Based on the research entitled “Web – Based Dental Patient Education and Management
Application” stated that it is difficult for hospitals and clinics to manage their documents related
to their patients and routine works without having management software. The purpose of this
paper is to design and develop a web-based dental clinic application for educating and managing
patients. Recent web technologies such as ASP.NET, JavaScript, Bootstrap, and Web Service
have been used for developing the application; it is hosted in the Cloud, and it is powered by
Microsoft Azure Cloud computing Service. This paper indicates that a web application for
educating and managing patients can be developed. The application increases the interaction
between the dentist and the patients. It is successful in documenting patients’ information such
as dental and medical history and patients’ visits. (Saeed & Ahmed, 2021). Based on the study,
the connection of this to our study is the web-based dental clinic application for managing dental
clinic patients has been designed and developed. Patients' information, such as visits, and
medical and dental histories can be stored in a secure place.

Based on the research entitled “The Adaptation and Implementation of Medical-Dental

Electronic Health Record in Academic Dental Center” states that the oral health is an integral
part of total health and wellness and achieving optimal oral health and wellness necessities inter
professional collaboration and coordination among the health care team. A common electronic
health record (EHR) enhances are coordination and facilities the exchange of clinical information
among care providers. Dental patients will benefit from clinical integration through improved
care coordination and communication between medical and dental providers. Dental students and
other health care professional students will be prepared with competencies for clinical
integration, including inter professional collaboration, communication, care coordination, and
clinical informatics skills. (Dolce et al., 2019). Based on the study, the connection of this study to
our study is to allowing practitioners to record patient concerns and issues; to see a full picture of
the patient's oral health, and to review changes and make a diagnosis.

As stated on the research entitled "Using electronic dental records to establish a

surveillance system for dental decay in rural Western Alaska", previous surveys have
demonstrated high rates of early childhood caries (ECC) in the Alaska Native (AN) population of
western Alaska. There are many challenges to providing dental care in this roadless Yukon-
Kuskokwim Delta region. The regional Tribal Health Organization implemented an electronic
dental record (EDR) system in the late 1990s. They explored the use of the EDR to establish an
oral health surveillance system in children. In conclusion, while oral health care in remote areas
of Alaska is challenging, it is successfully adapting an EDR to provide population-level oral
health data, demonstrate the use of that system to generate meaningful data and establish a
system that could be used to monitor interventions and inform improvements in care over time.
(Thomas et al., 2020). Based on the study, the connection of this study to our study is to improve
patient and provider interaction and communication, as well as healthcare convenience. It more
effectively diagnoses patients, reduces medical errors, and provides safer care.

In accordance with the research entitled “Going electronic: an Epic move. British Dental
Journal”, it states that medicine and dentistry have historically existed as separate entities,
resulting in the creation of separate patient health records, which may limit patient care and
safety. In this paper, we report on the challenges and benefits presented by the national drive to
integrate technology into the NHS, including the enhancement this can provide to patient care. In
primary care dentistry, electronic record keeping is well established in the UK. They conclude
that “transformation to a digital hospital is now a successful reality at UCLH. We hope this paper
will provide greater understanding for service providers to consider its use to improve clinical
services and patient care”. (Virdee, 2022). Based on the study, the connection of this study to our
study is the instant responses and access to information on demand, patient interactions and
involvement with their health and associated data have evolved and the health service needs to
keep up with this. Yet, it is feasible that, on the back of practical priorities, changing patient
needs and technological advancements.

Based on the research entitled "Design, Implementation, and Adoption of an Electronic

Dental Record Within an Electronic Health Record in the Public Healthcare System of Buenos
Aires City ", stated that oral health has been an issue of great concern for many years. Reduction
of risks to oral diseases is only possible if services are oriented towards primary health care and
prevention. This paper describes the development and implementation of a Dental Record within
an Electronic Health Record for the public. Oral health care needs to integrate dental, medical,
and behavioral health information into an electronic health record and be readily available to
health providers. It is needed to understand the causes associated with oral health and design
policies that improve the oral health care of the population in this sense. (Capella et al., 2019).
Based on the study, the connection of this study to our study is to lessen paperwork, reduced
duplication of testing, and to improved health through the change of health information
electronically.

In accordance with the research entitled "Improving Oral–Systemic Healthcare through

the Interoperability of Electronic Medical and Dental Records: An Exploratory Study", states that
electronic health records (EHRs) are rarely shared among medical and dental providers. The
purpose of this study was to assess current information sharing and the value of improved
electronic information sharing among physicians and dentists in Germany and the United States.
A large body of recent research has emphasized the connections between oral and systemic
health and the role of oral health outcomes in overall health. In addition to benefits for medical
providers, efficient health information systems can provide timely, accurate, and accessible
patient information to dental providers. (Simon et al., 2019). Based on the study, the connection
of this recent study to our study is to provide higher quality and safer care for patient records. It
is easier to access and manage care for patients.

Based on the research entitled “Dental Advisories and SMS Notification System Utilizing
Predictive Analytics” stated that the Dental Clinic Industry has taken steps to innovate when it
comes to monitoring affected person archives and notifying them for appointments and
announcements. They have come up with a device that keeps patients file in a secured database
on the cloud with automatic SMS notification for the patients' upcoming dental appointments and
makes use of predictive analytics for managerial selection making. The gadget is ubiquitous and
environment-friendly and offers a paperless utility that can quickly locate patient listing and
previous transaction. (Miranda et al., 2019). Based in the study, the connection of this study to
our study is the system is primarily intended for administrator, capable of overseeing all aspects
of the system, which includes SMS notification and the predictive analytics module. However,
the system cannot work offline, meaning that the admin has to login to the system thru an active
internet connection.
