Melo, E.A., Probst, L.F., Guerra, L.M. et al. (2021), “Indicators for dental appointment scheduling in

primary health care: a national cross-sectional study”. The current study is a cross-sectional analytical

study that employed data from the third cycle of Brazil's National Program for Improving Access and

Quality in Primary Care (PMAQ-AB) external assessment, which took place between 2017 and 2018.

There were 85,231 patients and 22,475 oral health teams in the final sample (OHTs). The fact that the

user sought a dental appointment at the Primary Health Care Unit was the outcome variable. A multilevel

analysis was conducted to confirm the relationship between individual variables (related to users) and

environmental variables (related to OHTs) and the outcome. However, various phenomena relating to the

individual, the environment, and the ways in which treatment is provided determine the usage of dental

services. As a result, issues such as dental appointment scheduling might have a favorable or negative

impact on the usage of dental services. The purpose of this study was to assess the indicators for

scheduling dental appointments in primary care (PHC).

The COVID-19 pandemic may hasten the adoption of innovative dental workforce models, such as dental

therapists who complete at least 3 years of academic training and work in collaboration with a dentist to

provide a limited scope of treatment, such as prevention, fillings, and periodontal disease treatment. In

rural and tribal regions, dental therapists have been found to lower total dental expenditures and increase

access. The lower cost of dental therapists may encourage their adoption or a more independent scope of

practice in a rebounding economy.

The COVID-19 pandemic offers dental researchers’ numerous possibilities to focus on important

concerns. Estimating the costs and benefits of increased PPE use (and other changes in dental practice

workflows), developing and testing innovative approaches to reduce aerosol generation during dental

procedures, testing and validating tele-dentistry models, and evaluating alternative dental workforce

models, such as dental therapists, are all important research priorities.

Primary care is important, according to Regine Ynez H De Mesa, Cara Lois T Galingana, and colleagues

(July 2019) in their paper “Impact of better primary care on patient satisfaction: Results of a pilot study in

the University of the Philippines”. In the Philippines, the public perceives the health-care system as

inefficient and low-quality. The influence of improving primary care services on patient satisfaction is

examined in this paper. Overall wait times, care coordination, and health advice received the highest

satisfaction ratings. Health-care digitization recordkeeping, laboratory and pharmaceutical services

funding, and staff retraining explains large increases in patient satisfaction.

According to Delos Santos (2019) icare: Health Check-Up System, the icare application provides an

easier and faster way of managing data and easy-to-access patients' medical record. The key instruments

used in the development of the application were survey questionnaires and interviews. As a result, the

icare app, which is now integrated and functioning online in the university and enhances and delivers

hassle-free services to the clinic's clients and workers, received a perfect score. The researchers develop

and maintain the seamless operation of the icare Application, which provides convenient services and

meets the needs of EVSU Medical Clinic clients.

According to Sanjana (May 2019) in her research on the Benefits of an Online Appointment

Management System in the Healthcare Industry, online scheduling systems also include features such as

automated email and text message reminders, which the system sends out to patients and booked

individuals on a specific date prior to their scheduled appointment; recording and record keeping

capabilities that make it quick and easy to access data associated with appointments; and recording and
