Streaming Video Art to

Youtube Live

Step-By-Step Guide For Mac OS X


Before We Start: Make sure you install

- Max/MSP https://cycling74.com/downloads

- CamTwist Studio http://camtwiststudio.com/download/

- OBS https://obsproject.com/

- HAP https://github.com/vidvox/hap-qt-codec/releases/

- Camera Live https://github.com/v002/v002-Camera-Live

- Soundflower https://github.com/mattingalls/Soundflower/releases
Step 1: Plug in Camera, Turn On and Launch Camera Live

Plug in your Canon

open Camera live.

Step 5: Launch a foreground video from drop down menu to begin playback.

Select your video source from Camera
Live. If not working, check to see if
Camera Live is open.

Step 7: Open Preview to See Camera feed

Step 8: Select Chroma Color (Part 1, Bright)

Step 10: Adjust Tol and Fades until it looks perfect

Part II: Setting Up Audio
Step 11: Go to Options —-> Audio Status

Step 12: Click Audio Driver Setup

Step 13: Create Aggregate Device

Select Soundflower (2Ch)


and your sound card

Click “+” here, create

Step 14: Select newly created sound device

and output in Options / Audio Status

Step 15: Click the Microphone button to turn on audio

should now be ready to go :) —————>
Part III: Setting Up CamTwist,
OBS and Youtube Live
Step 16: Open CamTwist Main Window, Select Syphon and Max

<—— Open CamTwist and go to View -> Main

Click syphon ->


Step 17: Open OBS, Create new scene and Video Capture Device

Click the “+”


sign for both
scene and
source ->

Step 18: Select “CamTwist”

Select CamTwist as Device… if you


have done everything correctly, you
should see your feed from Max. If you
didn’t, check your check list.
Step 19: Select audio preferences for OBS

Go to OBS -> Preferences

Desktop Audio Device


select “Sound Flower” (2ch)
Step 20: Check audio from Max

Your should now be getting


audio from Max. If you are
not, check steps 11 - 15
again
Step 21: Get streaming key from YouTube Live

Go to https://www.youtube.com/live_dashboard

Scroll down to “Encoder Setup” click


reveal and copy the stream key

Step 22: Enter Streaming Key in OBS preferences

Go to OBS -> Preferences


-> Stream

Select Service “Youtube /


Youtube Gaming”

Enter your stream key


where it says Stream Key
Step 23: Start Broadcasting

Click “Start Streaming”…


you are now Live!

Check your upload speed here


Step 24: Final Step… turn off preview windows!

they will slow down your
