REGISTRATION
OF TRAINING
STAFF

The Fiji National University registers Trainers through its Grants Section.

The following are revised requirements/guidelines for registration, which


became effective on 1 January 2010:
1. All categories of training staff may apply to be registered with the Fiji National
University.

2. Training staff will be registered only upon application to the University.

3. All applications for registration must be made on the relevant application form.

4. All applications for registration will be considered and approved by the relevant
authorities within the University.

5. Training Staff will be registered either as Training Officer, Training Instructor or


Resource Professional. A Training Officer is someone who manages the entire training
process in an organization. A Training Instructor is a person who spends most of his/her
time preparing, delivering and evaluating training programmes. A Resource
Professional is a line employee who may be called upon to deliver training every time
there is a need for relevant training.

6. Registration Criteria for all categories of training staff are as shown below in parts (a)
and (b):

(a) Minimum Training Qualification Requirement

Trainers’ programme OR

required for registration in this category
RESOURCE PROFESSIONAL Module I of the TPAF/NTPC’s ‘Training of
Trainers’ programme OR
Training Programme(s) covering the competencies
required for registration in this category

(b) Requirement for Training Competencies

Applicants seeking registration in each of the training staff categories must be able to
perform the tasks listed below. The relevant competencies required for registration in each
category are shown by asterisks (*).

Workplace Assessment is a requirement for training staff applying for registration in the
Training Officer or Training Instructor categories. These will be carried out to
determine the relevant competencies of training staff.

Workplace Assessment is not a requirement for registration in the Resource Professional


category. However training staff applying in this category are required to submit written
evidence of ‘training involvement’. ‘Training involvement’ would constitute delivering
training when there is a need for relevant training in the area of expertise.

7. Documentary evidence must be submitted with all applications and these must include
documents in respect of :
a) Training/Qualification
b) Competence/Experience in relevant areas of training
c) References from Organizations where tasks may have been performed
d) Affiliation to Professional Institutions/Body’s wherever relevant

8. Training Staff will be registered twice in a year, in March and in October. All
applications must be received by January 31st for the March registration & by August
31st for all registrations in October.

9. All registration will be valid for five (5) years.

10. On expiry, training staff may re-apply. Registration as Training Staff will not be
renewed without application.

11. The cost of each application shall be as follows:


Training Officer - $115.00
Training Instructor - $ 86.00
Resource Professional - $ 35.00

12. A re-application will attract fees as above.

13. The cost of renewing registration upon expiry shall be as follows:


Training Officer - $92.00
Training Instructor - $69.00
Resource Professional - $28.00
14. Registered Training Staff may apply for a replacement copy of a Registration
Certificate. All relevant costs will have to be met prior to a re-issue. All costs shall be
determined on a case-by-case basis at the time of such application. Replacement
certificates shall be stamped ‘Re-issue’ or ‘Replacement Copy Only’.

15. Overseas trainers shall not be registered unless they are specifically employed as
training staff by Method ‘A’ companies.
