Running head: Communist party leaders of China 1

There are estimated twelve million illegitimate immigrants in the United States. The issue of
illegal immigrants has been a hard nut to crack for local, state and federal governments. There
have been many voices raised to condemn illegal immigrants while others have been defending
them enthusiastically. There have been shedding of tears, blood and sweat on this profound
battleground by both those condemning the illegal immigrants and their sympathizers as well.
The condemning and the sympathizing parties have faced off each other psychologically,
philosophically, and at times physically using weapons each party defending its standing point.
These wars become more complicated when the politicians and more so different presidential
candidates stand and stress on their loyalties and policies about the immigrants. In this paper, I
will discuss how immigrants come to be and their implication on the economy.

There are several different ways in which a person can become an illegal immigrant in another
country. Common two ways that I will discuss in this paper are; 1. Staying in the country without
valid legal documents, 2. Where a foreigner enters the country without the required legal and
valid documentation. The first situation applies where an alien enters into the country legally,
with valid documents and having satisfied all the requirements, but he or she remain in the
country after the terms of the agreement expires. When one enters the country with a worker or
tourist visa with an expiration date and remains in the country even after it expires. Fraudulent
documentation will also result to an illegal immigrant in the country. The second scenario occurs
where an alien crosses the border of our country without the complete set of the requisite
documentation to allow him or her to enter the country.

It is unbelievable that the fiscal impact of these illegal immigrants by far exceed the collections
the governments get from them. Since it’s a mandatory requirement by for all the people to pay
taxes to the governments, it is incredible that amounts generated from the illegal immigrants
surpass the cost of services they enjoy from the state, federal and local governments. The illegal
immigrant’s contributions towards the economy are also poor and minimal as they lack requisite
skills, they, therefore, earn very little and thus contribute relatively little regarding taxes.

It is also imperative to mention that illegal immigrant has posed a major national security in the
recent past with constant terror attacks being linked to them. The presence of illegal immigrants
in the country has undermined the rule of law and sovereignty of the nation. There have been
many national security risks, and it is rendered our borders very insecure. It also undermines
coherent policies in the nation.

Apparently we can blame our authorities in the borders of negligence and their slow enforcement
of the laid down laws. The authorities have also been receiving bribes hence allowing many
aliens to penetrate to our borders. Our checking and verifying systems have been unreliable as
they have failed to detect false and fraudulent documents presented by these immigrants. We
cannot however wholly blame our systems and authorities for this problem but also the political
will in the country is partly to blame. This is because; some politicians have stood with the
immigrants and sympathized with them for their political gains.

In conclusion, I can say that the challenge of illegal immigrants is a real problem, and it is
apparently here to stay. We should, however, be cautious and vigilant as this problem has
grievous impacts not only on our economy but also our security and sovereignty and the rule of
law in the country. Stringent measures must be taken to curb it or else we will wake up to a
calamity.
