Giving Good Commands

Examples Rule
Direct: Please sit down right here. Make commands direct instead of indirect
Direct Indirect: Would you like to sit down? commands or suggestions.

Direct: Please stand in the line.


Indirect: Stand in line okay?
(Child is running around the room) State commands positively.
Positively Adult: Please sit over here. or
Please hold my hand. Tell child what to do instead of what not to do.
Stated Avoid “Quit, No, Don’t, Stop, Not”.
