Crew ...................................................4 On 5 October 1863, Lieutenant William Glassel and his crew pushed off under

got the engine running again, and returned to their base. The others were captured
by patrolling ships. The New Ironsides was damaged, but remained on station.

Armament: The “Submarine Battery” was assigned to the North Atlantic Blockading Squadron
