WORD To
SCREEN
MARKET
WHERE LITERATURE MEETS CINEMA
The Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival with Star organized the second edition of
the Word to Screen Market — a much-needed platform through which content
creators in India can access the best in books that have the potential to be
turned into narratives for other media such as films, web series, short films,
podcasts, VR films.

The market is focused on facilitating deals, building relationships between both

the worlds and also charting out a roadmap that puts solid systems in place so
that there is professionalism and fairness in the processes that get established.
The core idea is to build bridges where there are none and create a path that
leads to compelling narratives on screen.

As a precursor to the Market, a Word to Screen Publishers Bootcamp was

designed especially to enable publishers to navigate better the world of
pitching, optioning and commissioning. It was a daylong event organized in
New Delhi a month before which culminated into the Word to Screen Market in
Mumbai.
