It is often thought that the increase in juvenile crime can be attributed to

violence in the media. Do you agree that this is the main cause of juvenile
crime? What solutions can you offer to deal with this situation?
 Introduction

Recent soars in juvenile delinquency/criminality are believed to stem from

excessive exposure to meida violence. This essay aims to elaborate on the
core principles leading to increases in physical aggressions of youngsters
before analyzing certain feasible approaches to tackle the phenomenon.

impacts on children's behavioral development. Initially, heroism or justice via brute force tend
to be idealized in most violent movies, prompting the young into hailing/ acclaiming those
bellicose/ hostile heroes as role models and mimicking offensive behaviors and aggression.
Unfortunately, these portrayals can create the perception that violence is an acceptable and
even desirable in social contexts. Thus, media violence could create a sense of satisfaction or
reward for aggressive behavior given that many video games award players for violent
behaviors namely killing enemies with points or in-game prizes. Eventually, the positive
reinforcement might result in a psychological association between violence and positive
outcomes, making children develop imitative aggressive behaviors and desensitization
towards criminality.
