Summary This course comprises the MSc dissertation research Science and Engineering
project. The project begins in May shortly after the spring
exam diet.

Course Each project is guided by two academic supervisors (first
description and second) and may be further advised by an industrial Combined Course Timetable
representative. Students are assigned a topic of the
project according to their training needs and career Prospectuses
aspirations, after the discussion of the available projects
with the programme director. The student is expected to Important Information
formulate a research programme outline, objectives and
expected outcomes by mid- June. At the end of July a
poster conference is organized for all MSc students, staff
and industrial representatives involved. The final thesis
must be submitted by the specified deadline at the end of
August.

On completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Plan and execute a significant research project; apply a range of


standard and specialised research instruments and techniques of
enquiry
2. Identify, conceptualise and define new and abstract problems
and issues; critically review, consolidate and extend knowledge,
skills practices and thinking in chemical engineering
3. Communicate their research findings, using appropriate
methods, to a range of audiences with different levels of
knowledge and expertise
