B. Social, political, economic and other issues affecting the different arts in the community

C. Appropriation and integration of traditional and/or local art into other art forms.

D. PERFORMANCE TASKS:
1. Conducting a research on cultural and artistic practices of your community.
2. Creating a cultural map of your community. (lecture c/o ms. Liezel)
3. Constructing an identity of your community based on its culture and arts.
4. Discussing issues arising from the experience of culture mapping with peers.
5. Proposing possible ideas that could address these issues.
6. Articulating the process of appropriation and integration of traditional and/or local art forms
into your own art work.
7. Creating a work of art/performance/creative event that addresses, tackles or highlights local and
national identity.

Day 1 : Artist’s Personal Inventory (Workshop)


 Who am I? (What are my strengths, weaknesses, talents and abilities, likes and
dislikes, preferences, values, habits, dreams and aspirations)
 What is the Philippines (my country) to me?
 What is my relationship to my community/country? (do I have a relationship?)

 As an artist, what can I contribute to my community?

Day 2-3: Artist’s Inventory (Research & report by groups accdg to specific art forms)
 ACTIVITY: Group according to art preferences
 Painting and Sculpture
 Architecture
 Interior Design
 Performing Arts (theatre, music, dance)
 Film
 Graphic Art
 What are the art forms in my community?
 What are the art styles in my community? (divide into art forms)
 Who are the artists in my community? (based on different art forms)
Day 4 : Cultural Mapping (lecture)

Day 5-7 : Cultural Mapping by students
