Class objective: Make students able to identify the difference in the use between zero and
first conditional to write sentences about general facts and real-life situations.
Assumptions: Learners will find the Possible issue: Not all learners will be

Activities plan

Steps/time Description Material

Warm-up T-S: Ask to all students ‘What is your dream?’ and invite them to Whiteboard and
participate or choose ten volunteers.
(10 min) markers.
S-T: Answer the question while T writes the sentences given by
the students in the board.
T-S: Tell the students what is your dream and write it on the board.
(Ex: “Invite friends to a party”, and give them the reason why you
want to do that, staring the sentence with: “Because if I…” without
write it and read the sentence “Invite friends to a party…” Then
ask Ss “What will happen?” “What can we do?”
S-T: Answer the question, while T repeats the sentence out loud
with the possible answers. (Ex: “I will have fun”, “I will buy a
cake”).
T-S: Ask the students “What was my first sentence?” to check if
Ss remember, if not write it in the board “If I Invite friends to a
party, I will buy a cake”. Read the full sentence and invite them to
repeat it. Ask to the Ss: “Is it realistic or unrealistic?” “How many
parts do we have in this sentence?” “What tense do we have in the
1st part?” and “What tense do we have in the 2nd part?” Write the
answers of the Ss in the board. Ask the Ss to give an example with
the sentences given by students at the beginning of class. Choose
another 5 volunteers.
Finally, ask Ss to write down a sentence which is true for them and
which start with “If I”.
