Your offer of payment is $27,173.26. This amount is enclosed. This represents the actual cash value (ACV) of the physical
damage to your property at the time of the incident less any applicable deductible.
● We calculate the ACV of the damaged portion of your property by taking the current cost of repairing or replacing it,
known as its replacement cost value (RCV), then subtracting its depreciation.
● Depreciation is the amount of value an item has lost since it was purchased, factoring in its normal life expectancy,
age, and condition at the time of the incident.
Please review all of the documents and take note of any additional information we may need from you. You can contact
us at the phone number listed under Your Claim Information box to discuss your offer of payment.
We value you as our customer and appreciate the opportunity to assist you.
Sincerely,
Jonathan Navarro

About your offer of payment Replacement cost coverage
This offer represents what AAA accepts as the undisputed amount owed to you. Depositing the check or receiving an
electronic funds transfer for the offer of payment amount means you accept the offer of payment for your claim, but does
not constitute a release of the entire claim. Accepting this payment from AAA does not prevent you from pursuing any
additional amount you believe you are entitled to. We have issued the payment to minimize any financial inconvenience
to you.
There is a $1,000.00 difference between the replacement cost for this incident outlined on the attached estimate related
to your dwelling and/or other structure and the offer of payment. This could be due to your deductible or, if applicable,
depreciation you will not be able to get back. If you chose to complete all of the work outlined in the attached estimate,
you will need to arrange with your contractor payment for the difference between the offer of payment and the total cost
of the estimate.
The enclosed estimate related to your dwelling and/or other structure outlines the repairs that are approved for
this claim. If you are using a contractor to complete repairs, please provide them with a copy of this estimate. If your
contractor has questions regarding this estimate, have them contact us at the phone number listed under Your Claim
Information box.
If additional damage is discovered after the enclosed estimate related to your dwelling and/or other structure was
completed, please contact us at the phone number listed under Your Claim Information box before repairs start.
Understanding depreciation
The attached estimate(s) provides you with a detailed breakdown of any depreciation that was applied to the item(s) in
your claim. This is done by first giving each item a condition rating. The condition rating is determined by the amount of
wear and use an item has sustained and age of the item at the time of the incident. There are five condition ratings—
new, above average, average, below average, and replace.
1. New - indicates that the item was recently purchased or installed. Examples: new kitchen cabinets installed within a
month or a DVD player still in its package or recently installed may be considered in new condition.
2. Above average - indicates that the item is in better-than-normal condition. Either it wasn’t used that often or didn’t
wear as much as it would with normal use. Examples: a carpet or dresser in a rarely used room may be considered in
above average condition.
3. Average - indicates that the item is being used as designed and that it should last as long as an item of its type usually
lasts. Examples: a roof halfway through its life expectancy that has not been exposed to damage or unnatural wear or
a toaster that is used on a normal basis may be considered in average condition.
4. Below average - indicates that the item is wearing out faster than similar items subjected to normal use. Examples:
a carpet showing accelerated wear from constant foot traffic, pets, or staining or a belt used every day that has
significant wear compared to its age may be considered in below average condition.
5. Replace - indicates that we recognize the item has already been replaced and that there won’t be any depreciation
applied to it. Examples: a broken exterior door that was replaced to secure the home that is related to the incident,
but prior to the offer of payment or an existing television that was destroyed and you replaced it with the current
model.
If an item is indicated as having a condition rating that is lower than average, an explanation for the rating is included for
that line item in the estimate(s).
Please review the estimate(s) carefully to ensure that the age and condition ratings are appropriate. If you believe that
the condition of any of the included items is better or worse than what is indicated on the estimate(s), please send us
that information for consideration. For delivery options, please refer to the “How to submit documents” section.
Your policy includes replacement cost coverage. This means you can submit a request for the amount of depreciation
taken after the repairs have been completed, if you incur repair costs exceeding $28,173.26. You have a maximum recovery
of $1,197.29.
Based on your policy, you can submit a request for the amount of depreciation if all of the below apply:
● The amount you spend on repairs must be necessary and comparable to the damaged items.
CSAA Insurance Exchange
PO Box 24523
Oakland, CA 94623-1523
● You must complete the actual repair or replacement of the damaged property within 12 months from the date that
we make our first offer of payment to you toward the actual cash value of your claim.
● You must submit a request in writing to get back the depreciation within 30 days after the work has been completed.
Please include items such as paid Invoice, cancelled check, or receipt. For delivery options, please refer to the “How
to submit documents” section.
● Prior to the 12 month deadline, and upon your verbal or written request, we may grant you extensions of up to 6
months to repair or replace any item if you show good cause why additional time is needed.
To get back the depreciation amount for any items in your claim, you need to provide us with documents showing that
repairs were completed and repair costs were incurred, including:

The enclosed estimate related to your dwelling and/or other structure outlines the repairs that are approved for this claim. If you
are using a contractor to complete repairs, please provide them with a copy of this estimate. If your contractor has questions
regarding this estimate and/or if additional damage is discovered related to your claim, have them contact us prior to starting the
repairs
The following estimate represents the fair and reasonable amount required to repair or replace the damaged items or structures
noted at the time of my inspection. Pursuant to our insurance policy, our payment to you may be based on the Actual Cash Value
(“ACV”) of the physical damage at the time the loss occurred less any applicable deductible. The method AAA Insurance uses to
determine the ACV is the cost to repair or replace the damaged property less an adjustment for physical depreciation based on
the age, life and condition of the damaged property as appropriate at the time of the loss.
If there are deductions for recoverable depreciation, your policy allows you to submit a request to recover the amount of
depreciation taken after the repairs have been completed if your repair costs exceed the ACV Amount. A letter will follow
detailing how you may pursue this recoverable depreciation.
Unless otherwise specified, this estimate is not a contract to complete the repairs, nor is it a guarantee of payment in any amount.
The final decision regarding payments made, if any, will be determined by the adjuster assigned to your claim.
Please present this estimate to a contractor before you authorize the start of repairs. All supplements must receive prior approval
by us under your AAA Insurance to ensure payment approval for any cost increases. If your contractor has questions regarding
this estimate, please have them contact me at the number listed above.
