Reflection and Goal Setting
Reflection and Goal Setting
I learned that it is important to always think about the intended audience when developing data
presentations. We should use presentation methods that can be understood easily by the
audience. the presentation methods should have enough details for the audience to understand
them. For example, they should have descriptive titles, legends and labels. Audiences can easily
see what is going on with data presentations if great visuals are used. Great visuals provide clear,
persuasive and unambiguous communication. Some people might not be able to understand or
interpret certain types of data visuals. We should ensure that the intended audience finds it easy
to interpret and understand the data visuals. If we are developing visuals for the general public,
we should use simple language. We should avoid using jargon because it might make it hard for
the intended audience to understand the visuals. It is important to come up with appropriate and
effective data visuals to communicate various ideas. Data visuals should not have many details if
they are intended for the general public. If the intended audience is business executives or
professionals in a particular field, one can use jargon because they can understand. Analyzing the
intended audience for data presentations affected my pre-outline planning positively because I
was able to select data presentations that would be understood easily by my intended audience.
