Unit 7 DB: Media Literacy in Everyday Life

Media literacy refers to the ability to access, analyze, evaluate, create and act using all forms of

communication. Media literacy is an important skill today because it helps people to understand

various messages. People are able to access and analyze various messages. They can also create

messages such as blogs and Instagram posts. Media literacy enables individuals to identify online

rumors and fake news. They think critically about the news they receive. Media literacy helps

people to use reliable sources and filter the unreliable ones. For example, they can easily spot

fake news. Media literacy gives people speculation abilities. They can interpret media messages

that are presented to them through various platforms. Having media literacy skills can help one

to easily analyze the movies they watch and the books they read.

Media has a significant impact on personal, professional and social life. Media affects my

personal life positively because it improves my computerized correspondence. Media helps to

boost my mood as I get to watch music videos and listen to songs. Media also affects my

professional life positively. I can contact various professionals and learn a lot from them. I

interact with many professionals due to media. I also read various books written by professionals

and acquire significant knowledge about my career. Media affects my social life positively

because I get to interact with various people through online platforms.

I think media is a blessing. Media is a blessing because it has helped me to access a lot of

information and acquire knowledge. I have learned a lot due to media. Media has definitely been
a blessing because it has been part of my personal, professional and social life. I have benefited

from the use of media.
