1 PROCESS FLOW

2 PURPOSE AND SCOPE


This procedure describes guidelines for conducting load test for winch.
The purpose of the procedure is to ensure that a launching appliance shall not depend on any means
other than gravity or stored power, which is independent of the ship’s power supply, to launch the
survival craft; fully loaded and equipped condition and also in light lowering/listing condition.

3 DEFINITIONS
Light Lowering Test = each launching appliances shall be arranged so that the fully equipped survival
craft can safely launched against unfavorable conditions; a trim of 10° and a list of up
to 20°.

Recovery Test= a lifeboat launching appliances shall be capable of recovering the lifeboat with
its crew.

2 Turn on the Valve A (Accumulator) Basic PPE

6 Turn on the winch motor, hoist and Basic PPE
swing in using the joystick.

7 To recharge the accumulator the Basic PPE


davit must be swung out until the
pressure gauge shows 200 bars.

Note: Repeat every 14 days.

The pressure gauge is located at the


accumulator.
