2 PURPOSE AND SCOPE

This procedure describes guidelines for conducting load test for winch. The purpose of the procedure is to ensure
that the equipment is securely embedded to the ships structure.

Conducted during commissioning and 5 yearly inspection.

3 DEFINITIONS
Load test = 1.1 SWL x Dynamic Load Test winch
NDT = Non Destructive testing.
DIX = Document index.

activate the brake handle on the
winch. When the boat has
reached its maximum lowering
speed and before the boat enters
the water, the brake should be
abruptly applied

Note:
The test should not be done more
than 3 times.
5.10 Once the dynamic load test has Load cell, water bag
been completed, drain the water
bag.

5.11 Conduct visual inspection of deck N/A

foundations embedded in the ship
structure for the winch and davit
arms

Note:
If required, suitable NDT method
