Indonesian Education After Independence

Education in Indonesia almost changes every 5 years. changes that occur of

coursehave a significant impact on all groups. In its implementation, education in
Indonesia is regulated in Law number 20 of 2003 concerning the National Education
System. In this law, the education system is regulated formally, but in its
implementation. each year has its own context and provisions. it doesn't mean that the
change doesn't have advantages, but if you continue to use a concept like this, every
time a change of minister changes the concept of education too, it's possible that
students will find it difficult to adapt because of the changes that keep happening.

The 1994 Curriculum and the 1999 Curriculum Supplement were made from a
combination of the 1975 and 1984 Curriculums. However, the implementation of the
curriculum was criticized by education practitioners and parents. The reason is that
the learning material is considered too heavy and dense. In 2004 the curriculum in
Indonesia again changed to KBK as a substitute for the 1994 Curriculum. The
curriculum focuses on three main elements of competence, namely the selection of
competencies according to specifications, evaluation indicators to determine the
success of competency achievement, and development of learning for students and
teaching staff. Although the curriculum is almost the same as the 2004 KBK, the
principle of its preparation uses the concept of decentralization in the education
system. The government only sets competency standards and basic competencies,
then teachers are asked to develop syllabus and assessments according to the
conditions of schools and students in their respective regions.

behavior. In the 2013 Curriculum, especially in learning materials, there is

streamlined material and added material. However, the implementation of K-13 was
stopped by the Minister of Education and Culture Anies Baswedan through
Ministerial Regulation number 60/2014 dated 11 December 2014. As a result, the
curriculum used was returned to KTSP, except for elementary and secondary
education units which had implemented it for 3 (three) years. semester, early
childhood education units, and special education units

At least students are given time to develop themselves outside of class hours.
with these limitations, students have a tendency not to communicate and make the
absorption of information less good. learning system that is benchmarked equally for
all individuals. is a factor that has a considerable influence on the development of
education in Indonesia today. Students are limited by regions and policies of each
region. which causes differences in each region in responding to curriculum changes
that often change. we can get is that education in Indonesia should be even better. but
too many changes that occur make the application to students less optimal in practice.
With the suggestion that I made, I really hope that the government can slightly change
the system that has been happening so far and establish a curriculum that will last
forever and with through research.
