tips
- Reference properly
- Make adequate reference
- Add pictures and talk about them and refer them
- Check grammar , spellings, standard dissertation rules on writing
- 8000 – 8100 word count
- Reference properly
- On time submission
This submission does not fulfil the requirements as set out in the brief. The total word count is below
the minimum of 8,000-10,000
at 5,000. The chosen question here is also very generalised and leads to a very generalised
introduction to your line of enquiry.
From there on, a compelling yet straightforward structure is needed to articulate the development of
your argument on ideas of
Corbusier.
What’s more, there is no contextualisation of Modernism and its domestic architectural projects, nor
of Le Corbusier. This lack of
situating within wider architectural, social and cultural settings makes it difficult to understand the
influence it had on domestic
architecture.
This submission is essentially based on several highly descriptive reviews of domestic projects by Le
Corbusier. It does not build a
compelling and complex argument around your chosen topic of study. Nor is there any evidence of
sustained analysis based on
original thinking. Any analysis within the thesis is from a small set of references.
The projects chosen as case studies here were of value and interesting, especially as they varied –
with particular emphasis on Le
Corbusier’s earliest domestic work being so remarkably different. There was scope to explore that
and analyse how his ideas and
way of designing changed to suit the Modernist tropes we end up associating him with.
In terms of the references you use, there is a lack of scholarship in highlighting through the use of
quotation marks and in text
citations the passages of texts that are not your own. This is a fundamental academic skill for
everyone to show.
Lastly, whilst you are given credit for the inclusion of some visual material, there was a missed
opportunity by not writing about them
directly.
