MS Word Document Preparation Guidelines


Mentoring BCE 2079-Batch Students
--------------------------

The BCE 2079-Batch students of Kathford should follow these guidelines to prepare
short MS Word documents (group work) on the most important environmental
problems of their native places.

General Guidelines:
 Type your document in A4 size paper with 25.4mm (1.0 inch) margins in all
the four sides.
 Document size/volume: 4 to 5 pages.
 Font type: Times New Roman
 Document title: 14 points font size, at the top of the first page, centered &
bold-face text alignment.
 Names of students: Immediately after the title with one blank line spacing
between the title and students’ names, 11 point font size with centered &
italic text alignment.
 Main heading texts: 12 points in bold face with colon at the end.
 First sub-heading texts: 12 points in italic texts.
 Font size for body texts: 12 points normal texts.
 Table caption: At the top of table with table No. followed by caption texts, 10
points normal texts & table No. in bold face.
 Figure/picture caption: At the bottom of figure with figure No. followed by
caption texts, 10 points normal texts, & figure No. in bold face.

Content Outline:
 Cover Page: Design a suitable cover page & use for the document.
 Table of Contents: Table of contents in tabular form.
 Summary: Major points from each section of the document within 250 words.
 Background: The purpose of preparing this document, the benefits of
preparing this document for students.
 The Native Place: A brief description of the native place chosen for
environmental problem.

 Problem Statement: The most important environmental problem of the native


place.
 Causes & Impacts: Causes of the problem, all the positive & negative impacts
of the problem.
 Possible Solutions: Possible solutions of the problem.
 Recommended Solution: The most appropriate solution to the problem and
the reasons for its appropriateness.
 Conclusion: Write a short conclusion based on the contents of the document.
 References: List out the resources you used in preparing the document in
alphabetical order in APA referencing format. You can find information about
APA referencing system.
