‘‘The Shepherd Boy & the Wolf’’

Date

The Shepherd Boy & the Wolf

A Shepherd Boy tended his master's Sheep near a dark forest not far from the village. Soon he

found life in the pasture very dull.

One day as he sat watching the Sheep and the quiet forest, and thinking what he would do

should he see a Wolf, he thought of a plan to amuse himself.

His Master had told him to call for help should a Wolf attack the flock, and the Villagers would

drive it away. So now, though he had not seen anything that even looked like a Wolf, he ran

toward the village shouting at the top of his voice, "Wolf! Wolf!"

As he expected, the Villagers who heard the cry dropped their work and ran in great excitement

to the pasture. But when they got there, they found the Boy doubled up with laughter at the

trick he had played on them.

A few days later, the Shepherd Boy again shouted, "Wolf! Wolf!" Again the Villagers ran to

help him, only to be laughed at again.

Then one evening, as the sun was setting behind the forest and the shadows were creeping out

over the pasture, a Wolf really did spring from the underbrush and fall upon the Sheep.

In terror, the Boy ran toward the village shouting "Wolf! Wolf!" But though the Villagers heard

the cry, they did not run to help him as they had before. "He cannot fool us again," they said.
The Wolf killed a great many of the Boy's sheep and then slipped away into the forest.

Liars are not believed, even when they speak the truth.

Script

Narrator

Once upon a time, there was a shepherd boy who was in charge of all the sheep in the

village. Sometimes time went fast, but on certain days, the boy got bored just watching the

sheep graze. So one day he decided to have some fun at the expense of the neighbors.

(At one end of the stage we see the Forest and at the other end the houses of the Village.

From the Forest enters the Shepherd Boy. He comes quickly and stops between the trees and

the houses).

Shepherd Boy

(He cries out in anguish). Help! The wolf is attacking the sheep! Help, help!

(From the village enter three villagers, armed with sticks).

Narrator

As soon as the people heard the shepherd boy's cries, they ran to help him scare the wolf

away.

Villager 1

Don't worry, shepherd boy; we will help you.

Villager 2
Where is the wolf?

Villager 3

We will save your flock.

(Suddenly, the shepherd boy changes his attitude and begins to laugh).

Shepherd Boy

There is no wolf. It was a joke. I was very bored, there alone with the sheep.

Villager 2

This joke is not funny.

Shepherd Boy

It's just that I was bored.

Villager 3

Someday you'll need us and we won't believe it.

Narrator

Hearing this, the villagers returned to their village, feeling angry.

(Out goes the Shepherd Boy in the direction of the Forest).

Narrator

Time passed, and a week later, when the boy was bored again, he cried out again.
Shepherd Boy

Help, help; the wolf, help!

(Shepherd Boy enters from the Forest).

Help, please; the wolf is eating my sheep!

Narrator

The people of the village, hearing the cries for help, ran to help him.

Villager 1

Take it easy, boy.

Villager 2

We're here to help.

(The shepherd boy begins to laugh).

Narrator

They found him laughing like the first time, got angry and started to scold him.

Villager 3

He's fooled us again!

Villager 2

It's over, this is the last time!

Village 1

Forget about us!

Narrator

Angry, the three leave in the direction of the village.

Shepherd Boy

You guys are boring, jokes are fun!

Narrator

Not learning his lesson, weeks later the boy played the same prank over and over again, each

time people came to his call for help, only to find the shepherd boy laughing. However, this

had already sapped the patience of the good neighbors, and during a winter afternoon, while

the boy was gathering the sheep to return, a real wolf came. The young boy was terrified, a

huge wolf was approaching, tasting the sheep.

Shepherd Boy

Help! Help! It's true, the wolf has come!

Narrator
But on that occasion, no one in the village came out to help the boy, because no one believes

a liar, even if he sometimes tells the truth.

Report

➢ Milagros C. Canto: Cooperated in giving ideas for the materials to be used, ideas for

the script and also helped in organizing the room.

➢ Marco E. Gomezjurado S. : At the beginning he was listening and paying attention, he

also offered himself as the protagonist and remained silent until half of the class, but

the other half of the class started to relax with Joshua, Jose, Alejandro and Angelys

(Angelys joined the last 10 minutes of the class), the relaxation they were doing

generated so much noise that the substitute teacher Johanis (1 time), Milagros (2 times

1 together with me) and myself (2 times 1 together with Milagros) repeated several

times that they should be quiet and pay attention and if they did not do it, they should

not make so much noise, but they did not pay attention.

➢ Alejandro A. Williams E.: He paid attention for the first 10 minutes of the class and

since no one wanted to be the wolf he volunteered, after that he joined the relaxation

that José and Joshua had, the same as the noise.

➢ Kway J. Chu V.: He kept quiet and volunteered for the role of villager #1, although

there were several times that the group that was doing relaxation bothered him.

➢ Christel B. Mojica B.: He offered to take the role of villager #2 and together with

Dayleth he was reviewing the script, he also offered ideas to put in the script line and

things we could use in the background such as houses, fences, etc.

➢ Dayleth M. Samudio M.: She volunteered to take on the role of Villager #3 was with

Christel throughout the class and offered ideas like the ones I mentioned above where

Christel.

➢ Jennifer, Montero C.: She kept quiet during the class, volunteered to do the stage and

as a sheep, the one who was running the class made silence and a hairstyle to

Yamilka.

➢ Maryuri S. Montero C.: She was silent from the beginning of the class until the end, I

only saw her speak to say that she was volunteering for the role of sheep with her

sister Jennifer.

➢ Yamilka, Miranda M.: Offered ideas for the materials used to create the scenery.

➢ Angelys N. Núñez G.: She remained silent almost until the end of the class and only

got ready to bring materials and from then on she began to relax with the

aforementioned small group.

➢ Joshua C. Saldaña S.: He relaxed from the beginning of the class and at the end of the

last minutes I had to ask him and Milagros to see if he could bring materials and he

said yes.

➢ Aridny Y. Archibold C.: Although he did not go to class that day, he contacted me to

help me with the script and asked me what materials he could bring.
➢ Daniel, Garrido J.: I offered to bring materials and gave ideas for the script.

➢ Eduardo A. Gómez G.: He was silent, he relaxed a little with leex, but from then on

he was silent and offered to bring materials.

➢ Leex G. Rivas A.: He did a little relaxation, together with Eduardo, he offered himself

for the role of villager #1, but we reminded him that he was English, and he withdrew

his proposal, from then on he kept silent and offered to carry materials.

➢ José A. Ruiz G.: He relaxed during the whole class and at the end together with

Joshua I asked him and Milagros if he could bring materials and at first he didn't want

to, but Joshua convinced him to bring them.
