Brief Description of the Project

The fattening, or finishing, phase starts as the piglets leave the transition phase, at
between 9 and 14 weeks, and ends when the pigs are sent to slaughter when they
reach 85-170 kg (depending on the requirements of each market).
Pigs are an adaptable and rapidly growing species that may be attractive for small
and beginning farmers seeking to incorporate livestock into their farm. Hog fattening
is a part of agricultural business. I prefer to choose pig raising because as I have
notice people that I have known in my place which get involve in pig raising back
then until now are still engaging this kind of business. So I have this in my mind that
maybe because they found it profitable kind of business that can sustain their
financial needs and not just for profit but for their own usage. And the main goal for
this selection of this proposal is for the proponent to gain more knowledge in
engaging this kind of business. The proponent thinks that this has to do a lot of help
for her to maybe pursue a business regarding with this proposal.

Project Contribution to the Economy

It’s interesting, fun and a learning experience to raise a few pigs. Raising a few
pigs may also provide some income on a small scale for families who live on a bigger
lot. Pigs grow fast. They can be sold alive at a livestock market or perhaps processed
into pork for home use at a local livestock slaughtering facility. The most important
products from hogs are ham, roast or lechon, chops, bacon or sausage. Hog fattening
is a very popular enterprise in the area because there is a potential good return of
their effort. Despite the crisis facing the swine industry, still many people are
venturing in this enterprise.

Section 1
Marketing plan

a. Description of the Product

This proposal is subjected to grow three pigs for three months until the pig is in
recommended weight market and ready to dispose to costumers to be slaughtered
or for the proponents if to be sold in parts of the carcass. Slaughtering is the act of
killing animals for their meat it involves some initial cutting, opening the major body
cavities to remove the entrails and the carcass for one piece.

b. Comparison of the Product with its Competitors

Proponent’s product has a big difference compared to its competitors. Large

pig farms considered as competitors. Competitors need costumers who are big time
in one time deal but the proponents need not to worry about how to dispose the
product because as stated above only two pigs are raised its easier to dispose the
product by word of mouth or by posting it in social media platform ahead of time for
reservation. Additionally, people are more comfortable to buy produce not
commercialized for some reasons.

c. Location

The area is located at Purok-1 Brgy. Magpayang, Mainit Surigao del Norte.

d. Market Area

The product will be sold through live weight basis at the pig pen.

e. Main Customers

The main costumer of the product is buyer who sold meat at the market. Buyer
Mrs. Analyn Andrade

f. Total Demand

Based on my survey and knowledge, hog fattening is prohibited at the Barangay

Magpayang in our Municipality due to the Municipal Ordinance. So, only few
engaged in this kind of business, that's why, the demand is still high.

g. Selling Price

Product Pricing:

Particular Maximum Quantity Estimated % Due Price Sales

Promotional Measures

Facebook is one of the powerful tools to advertise and promote the product for
free, and expectedly to reach the costumers in your area and nearby municipalities.
Another way of promoting the product by the reach of the consumer who recently
bought the product and promote to their relatives, friends, neighbor and etc.

Section 2
II. Production Plan

a.Production Process /procedure

3 months are the intended period of raising piglets (3 heads) it will be

disposed directly to the contact buyer with the target price of 190 per kilo with an
estimated weight of 80 kilograms per head. The product will be sold through live
weight basis at P190 per kilogram and the buyer take the product from the area and
transport to slaughter area.

b.Technical Aspect

The area is located at Purok-1 Barangay Magpayang, Mainit Surigao del

Norte. I will raise 3 pigs and stock its particular consumptions and the feeds as well
as the medicament that needed that will be purchased in any of Agrivet Stores, to
assure that it will grow in a healthy condition until the disposal. Each of my piglets
had cost P4,500. I will be the one who will perform like monitoring, feeding, cleaning
and managing.

All materials must be prepare such as, drum, deeper, dustpan, broom and
pail. Pig pen is already in position for the 3 pigs. Since pig pen is ready, pig is brought
in the proponents place. But before that, proponents made some canvassing on
selecting best type of piglet to be raise and then buy feeds. The mode of transporting
the commodity is by tricycle and piglet is place in a crate to avoid stress. And the
most important is the feeding of the piglet 3x a day with the appropriate types of
feeds according to their age.
