3) COMMENTS ON BEARING CONDITION

• The bearing running surfaces, i.e. the rolling elements and inner ring raceway that
can be observed, show distinct over-rolled indentations on their surfaces
• Abrasive contaminant particles that have gained access to the bearing by some or
other means cause wear of the raceways, rolling elements, guide-ring and cage
assembly. The surfaces become dull to a degree that varies with the coarseness
and nature of the contaminant particles.

4) RESULTS OF BEARING ANALYSIS

Bearing suitable for reconditioning YES

Bearing should be scrapped NO

Level of reconditioning 3*

*: Reclassify bearing to restore to condition conducive for re-implementation in the intended application without
compromising the cage assembly

5) COMMENTS ON SCOPE OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED

• Thoroughly wash the bearing

• Assess condition of cleaned bearing running, i.e. raceways and rolling elements
and bearing external surfaces, i.e. the bore, outer ring outer surface and brass
cage assembly and associated components
• Compile a preliminary report documenting the investigation results in which the
feasibility for reconditioning of the bearing is concluded
• Implement reclassification processes to enable polishing of all bearing internal
