Rationale
Academic Integrity is a core value that a student develops throughout his
academic career. Its underpinned students’ academic works with honesty, trust and
respect. Many academies throughout the world nurtures student’s honesty and integrity,
and some common examples of these are the Military Academies. As we look in todays

This Academic Cheating has been associated with the problems and issues of poor
time management, fear of failures, temptations due to open opportunities, “the everyone
does it” phenomenon, in helping a friend and especially the pressures students receive
from their parents who are expecting for higher grades. In todays society which views
that students need to get high grades in order to acquire a degree for future employment,
financial security and for personal reasons (Choi, 2010; Cohen & Braver, 2003; McCabe,
Butterfield, & Trevino, 2006). Students often believe that they will receive benefits in
future employment for having exceptional grades and they still continue to perceive that
grades are important measures inside and outside the academy which significantly affects
the students. Therefore, it is clear that students are under pressure and are constantly
concerned about the grades they receive from their respective teachers. And these

important to conduct this study considering the current situation of this phenomenon, and
also to better understand the student’s perception and behaviors towards Academic
Cheating.
The purpose of this study is to find out if there is an Academic Dishonesty among
the Junior High School students in Immaculate Mary Academy and to determine its level
of frequency.
Academic Cheating among the Junior High School Students and as well as its negative
consequences must be identified with the quantitative research methods. With this
scenario, the researchers are prompted to explore this topic and to make study, as they
were alarmed with the rise of this phenomenon and were concerned to its negative
consequences to the students and its effects into the educational system. Hence, the
unfairness in the grading system as well as its impacts to student’s performance on higher
levels. Since there are limited studies about this, the researchers were motivated to
academic integrity and honesty in their academic works and performance. The
researchers aimed to find solutions that would be addressed necessarily to minimize the
