Assessing Water Quality

and Classifying Pingaping

River in Tubod, Surigao
del Norte
Introduction
    Water quality assessment will determine
the condition of a certain water body
whether it is degraded or provide its
function as ecosystem services that benefit
the nearby communities.
This presentation provides an analysis of
the water quality of Pingaping River in
Tubod, Surigao del Norte. The analysis
includes the assessment of the river's
physical, chemical, and biological
parameters. Pingaping river will also be
classified using water classification based on
Section 6 of DAO 2016-08.

Chemical Parameters

The chemical parameters of

Pingaping River include chloride, pH,
phosphate and nitrate. These
parameters provide insight into the
river's nutrient content, oxygen
levels, and potential for pollution.
Physical Parameters
The physical parameters of Pingaping
River include temperature, color and
turbidity. These parameters provide
insight into the river's clarity,
temperature, and overall health.
Biological Parameters
The biological parameters of Pingaping
River includes dissolved oxygen, Biological
oxygen demand and fecal coliform. These
parameters provide insight into the river's
ecological health and potential for
waterborne diseases. The results of the
biological analysis will be presented in this
slide.
Interpretation of Sampling Results

Based on the water guidelines indicated in DAO

2016-08 section 6, the water quality is
categorized into primary and secondary
parameters. Primary parameters are the
minimum parameters to be monitored for each
water body while secondary parameters are
other water quality parameters to be used in
baseline assessment for EIA and other purposes.
Public hearing

Public hearings are crucial for promoting

accountability and transparency in the decision-
making of public officials. The public is given a
chance to voice their thoughts, ideas, and
concerns regarding proposed projects or policies
during these hearings.  All concerned
parties/institutions were invited during the
conduct of classification of Pingaping River which
are the following: DENR-EMB, DILG, DPWH, DA,
DOH and private sectors.
