Activity 2: ANALYSIS
1.Are Societies in the world becoming more similar (homogenous) or more different
(heterogeneous)
 Societies are becoming more and more similar as people can buy the same
product for any product in the world. It is true that the phenomenal development
of technology has made the world a global village. People can get the articles
they want quickly, without barriers, anywhere in the world. This aims to be a
positive step towards global progress. It cannot be denied that globalization has
revolutionized the whole world.
2.What do you think are the advantages and disadvantages of homogenization of
Culture? How about heterogenization?
 How about heterogenization? The advantage of homogenization of culture is that
people from around the world are in much more contact than they used to be.
While the disadvantage, people will have no ability to escape one's own culture if
they don't like it.
3. Which of the aforementioned views on the history of globalization you find most
Appealing? Why?
 I found all the aforementioned views to be unviewable. But the most appealing
idea for me is the people starting to love one another as human beings, and
because of that love, to cooperate for the good of all rather than to compete on
an ego basis.

Activity 3: ABSTRACTION
1. What do you think is the effect of a high dependency ratio in developed
countries? In developing countries?
 A higher dependency ratio is likely to reduce productivity growth. A growth in the
non-productive population will diminish productive capacity and could lead to a
lower long-run trend rate of economic growth.
2.Is the heightened flow of people a unique feature of the current global era?
 Though it may look so, heightened flow of people was not the unique feature of
todays. I'd like to think that the term “heightened flow of people” is influenced by
certain factors, if I may specify, these would be immigration, tourism, and global
demography.
3.Has globalization facilitated or obstructed greater labor migration?
 Yet globalization has had important implications for international labour
migration, acting as a 'push' and 'pull' factor. It has facilitated linkages of
international labour markets through vast improvements in information and
communications technology.
Activity 4: WHAT DO WRITTERS THINK ABOUT GLOBALIZATION
1.On November 26, 2020, Ambassador Jorge Heine, Research Professor at the
Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies at Boston University, published a Global
Times op-ed discussing China’s rise in global trade and globalization.
In the article, titled “RCEP, CPTPP and the Asian Century,” Heine discusses China’s
recent signing of the the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), it’s
interest in joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership
(CPTPP), and how this move marks a the return of the Asia-Pacific region as the center
of world affairs. Heine argues that the formalization of the RCEP, India’s decision to opt-
out of this agreement, and shifting trade policy priorities in the United States have
seemingly shifted the world closer to “what Kishore Mahbubani has referred to as the
Asian Century.”
2.It has been fifteen years since He wrote his first article on globalization and disease,
in 2002, followed by a more complete one, in 2007, on globalization, poverty and health,
published in Portuguese, English and Spanish, given the interest that the theme had
aroused among healthcare professionals.
The phenomenon of globalization is not new, as it has been affecting people and
societies for more than two centuries. The old globalization, represented by the
colonialist expansion in Europe and sea trade among nations, had important economic
and social consequences, both positive and negative, on the new territories, as well as
on the European society itself. More recently, however, in the decades at the turn of the
20th and 21st centuries, we are faced with a new globalization, deep and fast, that
covers now practically every aspect of human life
