Firstly, lets’s thank to Allah SWT who has been giving us some mercies and blessings until we can

The Honorable judges.

My name is Dayyan Fa’az Az-Zulwa Syam. I am from SMPN 4 Sungguminasa. This time, I stand before
you to talk about a serious issue that affects the lives of many young people. It is “The Effect of
Bullying on Mental Health”.

Ladies and gentlemen

Have you ever been bullied?? Or have you ever bullied someone??

Bullying is a problem that can cause lasting damage to individuals and communities, and it is crucial
that we address it together.

So, what is bully?

Bullying refers to repeated aggressive behavior that is intentional, hurtful, and involves a power
imbalance between the person or group engaging in the bullying and the target. It can occur in
various settings, such as schools, workplaces, or online platforms. Bullying can take different forms,
including:

1. Physical bullying: Involves physical actions like hitting, pushing, kicking, or damaging
someone's belongings.

2. Verbal bullying: Iike the use of words to hurt, intimidate, or humiliate someone through
insults, name-calling, teasing, or spreading rumors.

3. Relational bullying: like damaging someone's relationships or social standing, such as

excluding them, spreading rumors, or socially isolating them.

4. Cyberbullying: Takes place through digital communication channels, such as social media,
text messages and hate speech on social media.

No one should ever have to endure the pain and suffering caused by bullying. It's time for us to take
a stand and say, "Enough is enough."

Ladies and Gentlemen

First and foremost, we need to understand that bullying is not a normal part of growing up. It is not
something that should be accepted or tolerated. Instead, we must foster a culture of respect,
empathy, and kindness. Each and every one of us has the power to make a difference by choosing to
treat others with dignity and compassion.

Ladies and Gentlemen

Imagine a student named Ikram. Ikram is a quiet and studious person who loves to read and write.
He enjoys spending time in the library and has dreams of becoming an author one day. However,
Ikram classmates often target him because he doesn't fit into the typical social norms of popularity.

Some ikram’s classmate usually whisper, pointing and laughing at him. They make derogatory
comments about his appearance, his interests, and his quiet demeanor. They mock his passion for
books, calling his names like "bookworm" or "nerd."

Can you imagine how Ikram feeling is. He feels isolated and hurt, he tries him best to ignore the
bullying. He focuses on his studies and spends more time in the library, seeking solace in the pages of
his favorite novels. However, the relentless taunting takes a toll on his self-esteem and confidence.
He starts to doubt himself and feels like an outcast.

Ladies and Gentlemen

The bullying doesn't stop there. Ikram's tormentors also use technology to target him. They create a
group chat where they share hurtful messages about him, spreading rumors and encouraging others
to join in on the mockery. Ikram’s discovers these messages accidentally when he stumbles upon a
classmate's phone left unattended, and his heart sinks.

Ladies and Gentlemen

As the bullying escalates, Ikram becomes withdrawn, anxious, and hesitant to go to school. His
grades start to suffer, and he loses his enthusiasm for writing. The bullying not only affects his
academic performance but also his emotional well-being.

Ladies and Gentlemen

This fictional scenario illustrates how bullying can manifest in a junior high school setting. It
highlights the emotional and psychological impact it can have on a student like Ikram, who is
targeted because he is different. It reminds us of the importance of creating a supportive and
inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and accepted for who they are.

Bullying not only affects the victims but also the bullies themselves. Often, those who bully others
are dealing with their own struggles and insecurities. It is essential that we create an environment
where everyone feels safe and supported, a place where individuals can seek help rather than
resorting to harmful behaviors.

To combat bullying, we need to actively promote awareness and education. We must teach our peers
about the consequences of their actions and encourage them to be more understanding and
accepting. By organizing workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns, we can spread the
message that bullying is unacceptable and will not be tolerated.

Furthermore, we should cultivate a strong support system within our schools and communities.
Teachers, counselors, and parents play a crucial role in identifying and addressing instances of
bullying. It is essential that we have open lines of communication and encourage reporting without
fear of retaliation. Together, we can create an atmosphere where no one feels alone in their
struggles.
Lastly, remember the importance of standing up for others. If you witness someone being bullied,
don't stay silent. Be an ally, offer support, and report the incident to a trusted adult. Together, we can
create a united front against bullying and build a community where everyone feels valued and
respected.

Ladies and Gentlemen

In conclusion, let us take a stand against bullying. Let us foster a culture of respect, empathy, and
kindness. Through education, support, and advocacy, we can create a safe and inclusive environment
for all. Together, we can make a difference and put an end to bullying once and for all.

Thank you.
