James Cameron wrote the script for Titanic in just five days and directed the most expensive film ever made at the time, which cost $200 million. He filmed scenes using a 90% scale replica of the Titanic that he sunk in a water tank filled with 17 million gallons. The film went on to win 11 Oscars and became the highest-grossing film of all time until Avatar broke the record in 2009.

James Cameron wrote the entire script of the movie in just five days, which is

considered a record for screenwriting.

The scene where Jack draws a portrait of Rose was actually sketched by James
Cameron himself, as he wanted to show the exact drawing he had in mind for the
scene.
The film's budget was a whopping $200 million, making it the most expensive movie
ever made at the time of its release.
The scene where Rose and Jack stand on the bow of the ship and say "I'm flying" was
actually filmed with the actors on a rig that was 20 feet above the ground.
James Cameron actually sank a full-scale replica of the Titanic for the film. He
built a 90% scale replica of the ship and sunk it in a tank filled with 17 million
gallons of water.
During filming, Kate Winslet caught pneumonia after filming in a water tank for too
long. She refused to quit, and instead insisted on filming her scenes even though
she was extremely sick.
The movie used a lot of CGI to create the sinking of the ship. To make it look
realistic, the CGI team used a computer simulation that mimicked the real physics
of the sinking ship.
The necklace worn by Rose in the movie, the Heart of the Ocean, was actually made
with a cubic zirconia stone and not a real diamond.
The iconic line "I'll never let go, Jack" was actually improvised by Kate Winslet
during filming. James Cameron loved it so much that he decided to keep it in the
final cut of the movie.
The film won 11 Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original
Song. It was also the highest-grossing movie of all time until James Cameron's
Avatar broke the record in 2009.
