    The Lotus Riverside Apartment Complex is a 13-story building in Minhang District
    Shanghai, China collapsed on June 27, 2007. The project is under Shanghai Zhongxin
    Construction and the cause of its foundation failure according to the reported investigation in
    China Daily was due to the foundations being undermined by a combination of dug-out soil
    being piled 10 m high against one side and the digging of a 4.6-m-deep underground car park
    on the other.
