NUTRITION FOR ATHLETES
People who do a lot of sports usually want to have a good diet. Sometimes people
think that to have a good diet we need to eat only vegetables and meat. This is not
exactly correct. The base of an excellent diet, especially for an athlete, is carbohy-
drate. Food like potatoes, pasta and rice contain carbohydrates, and these foods
give them energy and vitamins. Some people also think it is bad to eat fat or sugar.
These foods are bad in large quantities, but we need some fat and sugar for energy.
