Table For Column Load

The document provides formulas to calculate the safe load carrying capacity (P) of columns based on the percentage of steel (p), grade of concrete (M20, M25, M30, M35, M40), grade of steel (Fe 415, Fe 500, Fe 550), breadth (b) and depth (D) of the column. It also notes that the formulas follow a consistent pattern of subtracting 0.02 from the first term and adding 2 to the constant value for each subsequent higher grade of concrete.

Safe Load carrying capacity of column based on percentage of steel and

various grade of concrete and steel with known column section in KN

Steel Fe 415 Fe 500 Fe 550
Grade
Concrete
Grade
M20 P=(2.7005p +8) bD/1500 P=(3.27p +8) bD/1500 P=(3.605p+8) bD/1500
M25 P=(2.6805p +10) bD/1500 P=(3.25p +10) bD/1500 P=(3.585p+10) bD/1500
M30 P= (2.6605p +12) bD/1500 P=(3.23p +12) bD/1500 P=(3.565p+12) bD/1500
M35 P= (2.6405p +14) bD/1500 P=(3.21p +14) bD/1500 P=(3.545p+14) bD/1500
M40 P= (2.6205p +16) bD/1500 P=(3.19p +16 bD/1500 P=(3.525p+16) bD/1500

P=Safe axial load carrying capacity of column in KN

p= steel percentage say 2
b= breadth of column in mm
D= Depth of column in mm.
Note :-
1. Remember the first value in the formula for M20 concrete for the steel grade.
2. For next grade M25 deduct 0.02 in the first term on right side and add 2 with
constant value of 8.
3. Similarly for every next mix M30, M35 and M40 deduct 0.02 and add 2 from
previous value
