ED.205 Educational Leadership

What implications to educational leadership may be drawn out from the study?

In education, teachers and students are not enough in soaring the best educational

system of the school instead leaders must be there. Yes, educational leadership

inside a school is a must in order to have a systematic process of different

transactions inside the institution especially the teaching-learning process.

As a school leader, you must take into consideration the welfare of the teachers and

students for them to be more effective and efficient during the teaching-learning

process. In the study “Evaluation of the Effect of Learning Environment on Student’s

Academic Performance in Nigeria”, it was attested that learning environment plays an

important role in achieving a good educational system.

In the study aforementioned, speaks about the poor academic performance of the

students. This circumstance depicts that inside these schools are ineffective and

inefficient system. This also reflects that educational leadership is lacking in some

ways.

Based on the UNESCO, “Educational leadership is a term often interchangeably used

with school leadership. School leaders are in a position to make an important difference

in learners’ outcomes by creating the right conditions and environment for teachers to

improve classroom practices and learners’ learning”. This idea only proved that schools

in Nigeria lacked in creating systems that will improve the environment that will give

students and teachers the opportunity to also improve their capabilities.


Going back to the study conducted in Nigeria, it revealed that schools on the mentioned

country has to worked on their learning environment to sustain good academic

performance of the students. This only proved that educational leadership slacked off

on its role as agent in making learning environment conducive to teachers and learners.

In my own point of view, leaders must also learn through trainings and seminars on how

to run a school as well as creating a vision that resulted to an a academic success for

all the stakeholders especially the students. Suggestions given in the study is a good

point and must be given emphasis and must be put into consideration and into actions.

Career and personnel development is a must, through these learning activities to

leaders they will be able to put their learning into life. As what a cliché quotation says

“You cannot give what you don’t have” means having ideas on how to be an effective

leader and know how to run an institution that foster learning as way of being successful

means you will be able to partake good things and success with other school’s

stakeholders.

Choosing right teachers in delivering learning activities and experiences, providing well-

ventilated, orderly and well-structured classroom, and adopting changes in the

environment are some of the steps that leaders should take into consideration that will

definitely help regain the life of the teaching-learning process and the academic

performance of students all throughout the country.

Lastly, leaders that addresses concerns raise by teachers or even students and taking

precautions or making amendments on these problems is of great help in making a

difference inside the school that will leads to a success for all.
