Time: 3:30 pm – 5:30 pm
Venue: LT-1, Woxsen University

Description: The blank screen coding contest is a competitive programming event where people
have come to test their programming skills but with a challenge. They will not be able to see their
screens while programming which engages their typing skills, and as well as their accuracy in
programming. contestants were given some problem statements and a time limit where they had to
type programs with a blank screen. They were also given 30 seconds of screen on time to debug
their codes. Technology club executives have organised this event with a grand success.

Our technology club executives are picked out as moderators with a clear understanding of
the rules and assigned to every row in the venue. The problem statements are ranged from very
easy to very hard. The contestants are given the freedom to choose their comfortable programming
language. The contest started on a Sunday evening at 4:00 with a room full of participants. We
started the competition with a brief introduction and explanation of the rule set. Our moderators
made sure the screens are off. Whenever a contestant is completed with the code, the moderators
evaluated the code by running it in an online compiler. If the program is perfectly running in
different test cases, then they were awarded with 4 points. If there are some bugs or any logical
errors, they were given 30 seconds of screen on time to debug the code.
In the 30 second debug time if the contestant can correct the code, then they were awarded
with 2 points. If they were unable to complete even in the 30 seconds, they were given a choice to
move to another question or continue with the same in the blank screen again after which they were
only awarded 1 point regardless the number of attempts. The points were carefully noted and
evaluated. All the moderators did a very good job in conducting this event. Especially the president
of Technology club put in a lot of effort to make this event a success. After the competition has
completed, we had a fun game named ‘Among Us’ for a while. To conclude, this event has been a
great experience for everyone, and everyone are awarded with a participation certificate from the
Technology club.
