Getting Started

WELCOME TO YOUR PROJECT ARES TRIAL!

The trial environment is configured to ensure you experience the key features of Project Ares. Play an
assortment of mini-games in the Game Room, learn new concepts and terms in our Media Center, and
practice your skills in a few of our hand-selected Battle Rooms and Missions. This guide is designed to
help you get started by registering for your account, logging in and navigating the various components.

BATTLE SCHOOL
• Battle Rooms - Hands-on in a virtualized cyber range. Build your skills in a series of multilevel
challenges that reinforce cyber skills including reconnaissance, network analysis, and forensics.
• Mini-Games - Perfect your understanding of the basics. Master basic cyber security concepts with
fun, arcade style games that teach cyber kill chain, ports and protocols, regular expression
techniques, and more.

• Media Center - The latest info on modern threats. Kickstart your cyber learning with 100+ hours of
material in a curated collection of documents, web resources, and videos for all things cyber.

MISSIONS
Spin the World Map and get started by selecting any mission. You don’t need to be a pro to get started!
Project Ares has hints built in at every step along the way.
• Offensive – Disable botnets, stop terrorist financing and learn to manipulate industrial control
systems within our red team missions.
• Defensive – Work to stop malicious processes, protect financial institutions, respond to phishing
attacks and defend against web attacks.
(Mission scenarios available may vary on your specific trial environment.)

REGISTERING FOR PROJECT ARES

1. Using a browser that supports HTML5 (Google Chrome

recommended), navigate to the Project Ares URL provided
in your email.
• You can test how well your preferred browser
compares to Google Chrome by navigating to
https://html5test.com/
2. Click Register to create an account.
3. Select to enroll as a Player by selecting the corresponding
radio button.
4. Select your personal Organization ID supplied in the email from the Requested Organizations
dropdown.
5. Fill out the remaining text fields with your information and click Submit.
• Note: Registration goes through a manual approval process, which is not
instantaneous. Registration requests outside of Circadence CMT business hours (M-
F, 7:00a - 7:00p ET) may not be approved until the next business day.

LOG IN AND ACCEPT EULA

1. Once you receive the approval email, you may log in and begin
training.
2. To log in, select the Player role from the Login Area.
3. Input your credentials and click Login.
4. Upon logging in for the first time, you will be asked to read and
accept the End User License Agreement (EULA). If you agree
to the terms within the agreement, click Accept.
5. A link to the End User License Agreement document is also provided from the Help menu within
Project Ares.

PROJECT ARES USER’S GUIDE

Once you are logged into Project Ares, take a minute to stop at the Help menu. Here you can review the
full Project Ares User’s Guide, which provides a comprehensive look at all areas of the platform. Contents
include:

• Log in and password reset instructions

• Menu and settings overview
• Circadence customer support information
• Battle School information related to the Media Center, Game Room and Battle Rooms
• Earning Badges
• Sneak peek into earning Certified Work Roles (available with our Academy, Professional and
Enterprise subscriptions)
• Sneak peek into Missions (available with our Professional and Enterprise subscriptions)
