What is the meaning of life? Is it the general meaning of human life, or is it the meaning
of life to each specific person living it? The definition of the meaning of life is not an easy one.
According to Wettstein (2004), so many individuals see the question about the meaning of life as
a religious one. He argues that people’s lives might represent something or be provided with a
meaning by a deity as they give meaning to the words that are spoken. Even if there is no a good
answer to the question, it is still necessary for people to get through the day-to-day life. Maybe
the question is not supposed to be all about the meaning of lie, but more about living it;
therefore, answering the question about how one should live life and finding something that is
According to Critchley (2009), Heidegger believes that the word is a part of a person’s
life, and the fabric of a person’s existence. In a religious view as to why we are in the world, then
the fact that God exists means that He is the ultimate reality. If God created human beings for a
reason, then ultimately that is why we are in the world. Allison (2014) argues that the purpose of
life, other than the normal joy and pain, is to love the life of heroes. He believes that stories
about heroes provide people’s lives with meaning and try showing how a human life is meant to
be lived.
People need to have the freedom to enjoy their experiences and be happy. It is vital for
everyone to come up with an ethical way of living with others and connecting with them to know
