Function description
General
Daylight linking is a way of controlling luminaires whilst taking the available daylight and the blinds into account. Controlling the
artificial light by adjusting it to the natural daylight achieves optimal lighting quality and saves additional energy.
The daylight is recorded either by a sky scanner or by one or more light sensors. The light sensor does not have to be located
in the room where the daylight linking will be enabled.
Measurement points are used to control the daylight linking of artificial light. The measurement point defines the maximum
amount of light a luminaire can output. For each measurement point the illuminance at the workspace is measured with a
luxmeter, once at 100 % and once at 0 % intensity. These two values and the sensor values currently being measured combine
to form one measurement point.
The measurement points are then used to calculate the amount of artificial light required to achieve the required illuminance.
The number of measurement points created in a room depends on the local conditions in the room and the luminaires installed.
Example of daylight-linking
In this example two measurement points are needed: one on the
workspace below the left luminaire and one below the right
luminaire. The measurement points are marked with an X.

Note
When installing the LM-TLM sky scanner, ensure that the mark (north arrow) on the sky scanner base is
aligned with north.
General
The sky scanner is automatically added to the system image after a restart of the LITECOM CCD. Therefore, it does not have to
be addressed. In order for the daylight linking to work properly, check the values from the sky scanner.
Date, time, Specify the current date, the current time and the geographical coordinates.
geographical
coordinates
Sun Specifies the current sun position using alpha and gamma:
position
Alpha specifies the direction (e.g. 90° corresponds to east and 180° corresponds to south).
Gamma specifies the elevation angle – i.e. the angle between the horizon of the observer and the sun
(e.g. at sunrise the elevation angle is 0°, since the sun is on the observer's horizon; when the sun is
directly above the observer (in the zenith), the elevation angle is 90°).
Glare value Specifies the value of the current glare. The glare value is calculated from the sensor values of the sky
scanner.
Sky Proportion of total outdoor illuminance which falls on a measuring location (atmospheric scattering).
illuminance
Sun Proportion of total outdoor illuminance that occurs directly at the measuring location.
illuminance
Total Specifies the total illuminance. This parameter consists of the values of the Sky illuminance and the Sun
illuminance illuminance.
Note
If you tap the Delete button, the sky scanner is removed from the system image. However, if the sky scanner
is not physically removed from the system, it is automatically added to the system image again after a restart
of the LITECOM CCD.

(2) Select Whether a room or group is selected as the effective range depends on the project engineering:
effective
Select a room if the scene in a room, regardless of the number of groups, should be controlled
range
via daylight linking using a sky scanner, a light sensor or the average of several light sensors.
Select a group if the scene in a room should be controlled via daylight linking using a separate
light sensor to detect the available daylight in the room for each group.
In both cases the light sensor does not have to be located in the effective range.
(3) Configure Some settings can be applied globally to all daylight linking, e.g.Interruption period after manual
global operation. More information can be found here...
settings
(4) Selecting sky The daylight is recorded either by a sky scanner or by light sensors. Depending on the requirement and
scanner or the activated licence, a sky scanner or one or more light sensors can be selected. If more than one light
one or more sensor is selected, the average of the sensor values is used for the daylight linking calculation. The light
light sensors sensor does not have to be located in the room where the daylight linking will be enabled. If a light
sensor is already addressed in the selected effective range, this sensor is automatically added. The sky
scanner is automatically available in all effective ranges. Another light sensor or the sky scanner can be
selected at any time.
(5) Create, copy Daylight linking is implemented using measurement points. An overview of the functions of theEdit

(1) Create new Create a new measurement point. During this process, assign the measurement point to a room, group
measurement or individual luminaires and blinds. A name is automatically suggested for the measurement point,
point which can be changed at any time. By default the name consists of the abbreviation MP (Measurement
Point) and the assignment. Examples:
MP Luminaire 1: measurement point assigned to Luminaire 1
MP Group 3: measurement point assigned to Group 3
(2) Copy Measurement points can be copied from other effective ranges. This is recommended when scenes
measurement should be controlled via daylight linking in rooms with a similar setup. The name of the measurement
point point and measured illuminance are applied. The measurement point only has to be assigned.
(3) Return to the If you tap the cross, the Daylight linking view is called up.

(5) Measure Measure the illuminance at the workspace underneath the luminaire with a luxmeter, once at 100 %
illuminance and once at 0 % intensity, and enter the measured illuminance values.
Under the Measure button, the sensor value when illuminance is measured at 0 % intensity is
displayed in parameter At sensor value. If the measurement point has been corrected manually, the
message Corrected manually is displayed instead of the measured illuminance.
(6) Assign Measurement points are assigned to either rooms, groups or individual luminaires and blinds.
measurement
When a new measurement point is created, the point is assigned. In this case the assignment is

displayed below the Assign button. The assignment can be changed at any time.
When a measurement point is copied, the assignment is not copied over with it. In this case the
measurement point must be assigned in a separate step.
Tap Assign to assign the measurement point. If other measurement points have already been
assigned, these are listed in the right-hand column. When saved, existing assignments are overwritten.
(7) Correct It may be necessary to manually correct the measurement points (e.g. if the required illuminance is not
measurement achieved at the workspace). The values can be set or the control characteristic can be changed via a
point graphical representation.

Blind model
General
The transmittance data for the respective blind model is needed so that blinds are also taken into consideration in the daylight
linking. A blind model is a template in which the control-related properties of a blind are summarised. These properties include
the transmission and the glare protection position. The following table provides a description of the individual configuration
options:
Parameter Description
Transmission The transmission defines the capability of a blind to let radiation pass through. The transmission consists of
the following parameters:
Slat position: Specifies how the slats of a blind are tilted. Expressed as a percentage (%). At 100 %
the slats are closed, and at 0 % the slats are open.
Transmittance: Specifies the proportion of the radiation which is allowed through by a component.
Expressed as a percentage (%).
Note
When a facade is being created, the standard blind model is assigned as standard, which already contains
two values for the transmission and the glare protection position.
Function Description

Zumtobel LITECOM infinity System functions Daylight linking Configuration Global settings
General
Some settings can be applied to all daylight linking. These settings are enabled for all daylight-linked luminaires as standard.
The Scenes app provides the option of seperately defining whether the global settings are used, however.
The following table provides a description of the individual configuration options:
Parameter Description
Never dim off via Enable this tick mark so that the lighting is never dimmed off via daylight linking.
daylight linking
Lower dimming limit The dimming range is a range in which the intensity of the luminaires can be
(daylight linking)* dimmed/brightened. It is restricted to the physical upper and lower limits. The dimming range of
the daylight linking can be restricted further by setting the lower dimming limit (daylight linking).
Switch-off intensity* If the intensity reaches/falls below this value, the luminaire/lighting is switched off.
Delay time* Time during which the switch-off intensity must be reached/not reached so that the
luminaire/lighting is switched off.
Switch-on intensity* If the intensity reaches/exceeds this value, the luminaire/lighting is switched on.
Upper dimming limit The dimming range is a range in which the intensity of the luminaires can be
(daylight linking) dimmed/brightened. It is restricted to the physical upper and lower limits. The dimming range of
the daylight linking can be restricted further by setting the upper dimming limit (daylight linking).
Interruption period after Time during which daylight linking can be disabled temporarily by manual operation (e.g.
manual operation pressing a key/switch). Daylight linking is automatically enabled again after this time has
expired.
Daylight linking takes Enable this tick mark so that daylight linking takes over again as soon as the intensity calculated

General
It may be necessary to correct the measurement points manually
(e.g. if the required illuminance is not achieved). The values can be
set manually or changed via a graphical display.
The measurement points are converted into day and twilight points
and the result is a linear control characteristic. This control
characteristic determines the required brightness of the artificial
light based on the available daylight. The day point represents the
ratio between the daylight and artificial light when there is a lot of
daylight in the room, while the twilight point represents the ratio
between the daylight and artificial light when there is little daylight
in the room.
The control characteristic can be edited manually by pressing the
control characteristic icon in the measurement point overview.
First the option to adjust the values by directly entering them
appears. Press Edit for the Edit control characteristic option to Figure 1: Manual configuration
open the graphical display.
Note
To correct measurement points manually, well-grounded knowledge of control characteristics, day and
twilight points is required. Without this knowledge no changes may be made, as these significantly alter
daylight linking.
Parameter Description
Simulate with This value is used as the required illuminance used to simulate the control characteristic in the room. The
following changes can therefore be measured directly in the room when manually correcting the measurement
illuminance points.
Intensity Artificial light level additionally needed to reach the required illuminance set forSensor value (twilight
(twilight point) point). Generally, a higher intensity (artificial light level) is required when there is less available daylight.
Sensor value Illuminance measured via the light sensor, at which the luminaires switch to the set value forIntensity
(twilight point) (twilight point).
Intensity (day Artificial light level additionally needed to reach the required illuminance set forSensor value (day point).
point) Generally a lower intensity (artificial light level) is required when there is more available daylight.
Sensor value Illuminance measured via the light sensor, at which the luminaires switch to the set value forIntensity
(day point) (day point).
Current sensor The current sensor value for the light sensor is displayed here. If more than one sensor is selected for the
value measurement point, the average sensor value is displayed.
Information
If the control characteristic has been edited manually or graphically, the Edit measurement points overview
will display the note Manually corrected under the Measure button.
Information
Normally daylight linking is used to compensate for low levels of natural daylight with artificial light (daylight
tracking). However, the Correct measurement points manually function can also be used to configure
daylight tracking. A daylight curve is then simulated in the rooms without daylight. This means that when
there is a lot of daylight (Sensor value (day point)) the artificial light is set higher (Intensity (day point))
than when there is little daylight (Sensor value (twilight point)), when a lower artificial light level (Intensity
(twilight point)) is set.
