Program Overview:
The Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) degree combines
general education courses and professional coursework.
Professional coursework includes classroom theory, as well as
hands-on learning in our state-of-the-art simulation technology lab.
Through simulation technology, nursing students can practice and
learn patient care on high-fidelity manikins before working with live
patients at clinical sites across the Boston, North Shore, and South
Shore areas. This offers students a low-stress and highly effective
way to practice and build confidence before working with real
patients.
With an associate degree, students can enter the nursing
profession earlier than in a traditional 4-year program. This allows
on-the-job experience with the next level of theory, communication,
and leadership skills taught in most RN-to-BSN programs, including
Labouré’s fully online, accelerated RN-to-BSN program.
What can I do with my RN license?
Registered nurses are a critical part of any healthcare setting. From
doctors’ offices to hospitals to nursing homes, nurses provide direct
patient care, patient education, and act as liaisons between patients
and other hospital staff. Nurses are also responsible for performing
procedures and monitoring a patient’s progress and medical
records.
Nurses can specialize in many areas, including critical care, trauma,
labor and delivery, pediatrics, geriatrics, oncology, psychiatric
nursing, and much more.
