PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATION ON THE CONDITION OF

JONALEEN MAE P. TANGONAN

Applicant, CIVIL ATTORNEY

BRIEF PERSONAL HISTORY

Ms. Jonaleen Mae P. Tangonan, a 21-year-old Filipino female, Single, Christian,

and was born in Angono, Rizal. She currently resides in Sta. Mesa, Manila, where she

lives independently with the financial support of her family. She presented herself for an

evaluation as per advised in relation to her application for the position of CIVIL

ATTORNEY at Ascott Ayala Center, Makati, Metro Manila.

Herein applicant is the youngest among three (3) siblings. Her father, Jonathan B.

Tangonan, works as a driver, while her mother, Aileen Mae P. Tangonan, is a shopkeeper

and florist. Her parents have been together for 27 years, and despite facing personal

struggles, they decided to work on their relationship for the sake of their children. The

family is well-known for its high integrity, with many members being juris doctors and

registered nurses abroad. While her parents are not financially well-off, they provide for

their basic needs, and she receives additional support for her education from her

grandparents, aunts, and uncles. Her educational expenses are primarily sustained by her

grandma's sponsorship and scholarship opportunities. Throughout her academic journey,

the applicant experienced pressure from her family to excel academically, especially since

she graduated from a science high school. Despite this, she faced challenges in meeting

their expectations and struggled with feelings of inadequacy compared to her

academically inclined cousins. Her family desires her to study in a prestigious Catholic

school like UST but declined due to the expensive tuition fee that she doesn’t want her

parents to pay for. She also faced disappointment from her parents when she failed an

exam for an Ateneo scholarship. Presently, the applicant is pursuing a degree in

psychology due to her strong interest in understanding people.

Summarily, she values her independence and has learned to make decisions on

her own. Despite being close with her family, she has been encouraged to be self-reliant

and take responsibility for her actions. Her relationship with her parents, especially her

mother, seems to be supportive and connected, even though they are not overtly

expressive.

TEST EVALUATION AND ANALYSIS

The psychological protocols and clinical interview conducted with the herein

applicant provided the undersigned information that she is a person who possesses an

average mental ability. She shows confidence and composure in answering all the probing

questions during the interview. She provided detailed answers with eloquence. Her skills

on verbal tests were above average while her scores on the performance test were

average. She shows facility in communicating during the interview.

Based on the Personality Test, the applicant's Profile Classification Index (PCI) is

classified as acceptable. This suggests that she possesses a generally balanced and

adaptable personality. Additionally, her Infrequency (INF) Scale results are also classified

as acceptable, indicating that her responses were consistent throughout the test.

The applicant is a person who accepts her feelings as part of herself. She is not

afraid to discuss her feelings regarding the pressure her parents are putting on her. She,

therefore, became a pragmatic individual. True enough, she becomes more engaged with

other people in the workplace. Her sense of responsibility is evident as she performs her

duties to the fullest skill she could give.

In the workplace, the applicant acknowledges her weaknesses and strives to

overcome them, demonstrating a proactive and self-improving attitude. The applicant

exhibits a balanced approach to teamwork. She enjoys collaborating with others,

recognizing that her actions impact her colleagues, and thus, she always gives her best

effort. This sense of responsibility is commendable and speaks to her commitment to her

work and the people she serves. Having previously worked with juris doctors and lawyers,

the applicant has been inspired by their skills and character, which she hopes to apply in

her current and future positions. She is described as a leader among her co-workers,

taking initiative and working collaboratively for the betterment of the team. The

applicant's maturity is evident in her response to others' negative behavior towards her.

Instead of trying to change them, she sets a positive example and remains focused on

her responsibilities. She understands her strengths and utilizes them wisely, being

conscious of her numerous responsibilities. Self-awareness is an essential aspect of the

latter’s personality. She values her role as a servant to others and strives to learn and

apply her knowledge for the common good. Her humility in accepting reprimands and

being accountable for her mistakes showcases her willingness to grow and improve. The

applicant's ability to handle tight deadlines efficiently by managing her time effectively

indicates excellent organizational skills. She is forward-thinking and envisions herself as

a civil lawyer serving the interests of the people, aligning with her deep desire to be of

service to others. The applicant’s memory is fully functioning, and she exhibits no signs

of memory impairment. She displays a strong orientation with regards to time, place, and

the people around her, indicating a clear awareness of her surroundings and current

circumstances. Her ability to accurately perceive and interpret reality was found to be

intact, as she can readily distinguish between daydreams and actual events, displaying

no signs of confusion or delusional thinking. Moreover, the applicant's behavior patterns

align harmoniously with those commonly observed in individuals of her age group. Her

actions and responses appear age-appropriate and consistent with expected norms,

reflecting a well-adjusted and socially competent demeanor. No pathological symptoms

depicted and is free from any unusual modes of thought. Finally, her psychosocial and

psychosexual development falls within the normal range at the time of evaluation.

RECOMMENDATION

The psychological protocols and interview conducted with the applicant supported

the findings of the undersigned that the former possesses the competencies for the

position she is applying for and, therefore, is RECOMMENDED for the position of CIVIL

ATTORNEY at Ascott Ayala Center, Makati, Metro Manila.
