Soil is the organic and inorganic material on the surface of the earth that provides the
medium for plant growth. Good soil allows roots to quickly develop and spread, which in turn
increases the water and nutrient intake necessary for healthy and productive plants.
Performing a soil test is a good place to start when choosing soils. It will tell you what
nutrients your garden is lacking so you can look for a garden soil or topsoil that includes those
nutrients.
Importance of Study
The importance of our study is to know which soil is suitable for the growth of the
munggo plant. Once we have identified the type of soil suitable for munggo plant growth, we
will know what soil is good for the plant. Good soil allows roots to quickly develop and spread,
which in turn, increases the water and nutrient intake necessary for a healthy and productive
plant.
Hypotheses
1. We think that that the munggo plant grows better in loam soil.
2. We think that the munggo plant will not grow well in sandy soil.
3. We think that the munggo plant will grow three centimeters (3cm) in loam soil, two
centimeters (2cm) in muddy soil and one centimeter (1cm) in sandy soil after five days.
Objectives
2. To determine the type of soil munggo plant does not grow well on.
3. To determine and measure the plant growth of munggo plants in different types of soil after
five days.
Procedures
1. The researchers had brought 27 munggo seeds, 9 plastic cups and three different types of soil
2. The researchers put the three different types of soil in their respective cups and labeled it.
4. The researchers covered the seed with soil and watered the plant.
5. The researchers put the plants under direct sunlight, watered it regularly with exactly 25
6. After five days, the researchers measured the growth of the munggo plant and counted the
7. Lastly, after monitoring plant growth, the researchers analyzed the gathered data and drew
conclusions.
Gathered Data: DAY 1 (June 26, 2023)
Conclusion:
The monggo plant grew well on sandy soil as it grew an average of 3.1191 cm in the span
of five days. On the other hand, the monggo plant did not grow well on muddy soil as it only
grew an average of 2.7191 cm in the span of five days. In conclusion, monggo seeds grow well
on a well-drained sandy soil, as it the best for its cultivation. The crop does not grow well on
