5.0 Measurement of Winding Resistance

Test Setup:

A. Test Procedure:
- Isolate primary/secondary/neutral earth.
- Connect the circuit as shown in the above diagram.
- The deviation of the measurement over time during the period of charging the winding.
- The testing kit will automatically perform a discharging of the winding after
saving the measurement.
- By injecting a citrine value of current and measuring the voltage drop across the windings
- Calculate the winding resistance that under test.

9.0 TAN DELTA AND CAPACITANCE MEASUREMENT

A. Test Procedure
- Tan Delta, also called Loss Angle or Dissipation Factor testing is a diagnostic method of
testing electrical equipment to determine the integrity of the insulation.
- This is done to try to predict the remaining life expectancy of the equipment.
- By measuring IR/IC (opposite over adjacent – the tangent), we can determine the quality of
the insulation.
- In a perfect insulation, the angle would be nearly zero. An increasing angle indicates an
increase in the resistive current through the insulation, meaning contamination.
- The greater the angle, the worse is the insulation.
- The very purpose of this test is detecting moisture content in the insulation.
- This detects moisture and void in the insulation.
