Adverbs of frequency

Frequency adverbs:

Use: Adverbs of frequency are used to express the frequency of an action.


For this reason, they often appear with the present simple, as its main use
is to express habits.

Position:  Frequency adverbs usually go before the main verb:

He usually answers the phone.

He never eats Indian food.

And after the verb “To be”:

This classroom is hardly ever quiet.

List of common frequency adverbs:

never

hardly ever

rarely

occasionally
sometimes

often / frequently /
regularly

usually / normally

always

Other expressions of frequency:

We can also express frequency using time expressions like:  once a


week, twice a month, every day, etc.

Position in the sentence: These time expressions usually go at the end of


a sentence:

She goes running in the park every day.

He studies at home every weekend.
