EPISODE 1: OUT OF DARKNESS COMES LIGHT

DA
Black screen. The communicator sound, “Doot Doot Do Do Doot
Do” is heard at a slowed and somber pace. Suddenly a flash of
lighting strikes through the screen and the iconic Mighty
Morphin Power Ranger Lightning Bolt appears.

CUT TO:

EXT. GRAY SKY - DAY

Aerial view of rain clouds floating in the sky. Lightning and

thunder give way to the sound of distant DRUMS being beat.
Buddhist CHANTING is heard. Below we see an aerial view of
ANGEL GROVE. The drums and chanting get louder as we begin
SOARING toward the town of Angel Grove. Accelerating faster
and faster until we abruptly halt at the doors to a Buddhist
Temple.

EXT. BUDDHIST TEMPLE - DAY - CONTINUOUS

The large, ornate wooden doors to the Temple open slowly.

YO
INT. BUDDHIST TEMPLE - DAY - CONTINUOUS

The room is filled with MOURNERS. We move down the center

aisle past the mourners. At the end of the aisle we see a
buddhist altar and a casket draped with a sheer yellow
fabric. In the closed casket lies TRINI KWAN. The BUDDHIST
MONKS finish their chant with what sounds like the words “Go
Go Power Rangers.”

BUDDHIST MONK #1
ST
The Buddha tells us “Thousands of
candles can be lit from a single
candle, and the life of the candle
will not be shortened. Happiness
never decreases by being shared.”
This is how our sister Trini Kwan
lived her life. She was that candle
that lit so many other candles with
her gentleness, her compassion, her
happiness and her leadership. She
inspired so many to be their best
in every act that they do.

BUDDHIST MONK #1 (CONT’D)
(beat)
I now ask the family of Trini to
stand.

A man stands with three kids; we only see them from behind.
Close up on the man’s left hand as we see him twist the
wedding ring on his ring finger with his thumb. Camera pans
DA
up from the hand to reveal JASON LEE SCOTT (47). He puts his
arms around his three children, TOBY (10, adventurous),
JUSTIN (15, artistic, dancer) and SAMANTHA (17, rebellious,
intelligent).

BUDDHIST MONK #1 (CONT’D)

Will the appointed individuals come
forward to help lead the casket in
the procession?
VI
Six (6) men stand at various places in the crowd of mourners
and walk toward the casket. Each grabs a handle on the
casket, lift it and lead it down the center aisle through the
Temple. We recognize these faces. They are BULK (47), SKULL
(47), ZACK TAYLOR (47), TOMMY OLIVER (47), BILLY CRANSTON
(47) and Tommy’s son RYDER OLIVER (17, heartthrob, high
school jock). Jason and his children follow behind the

casket.

As the casket is led through the temple we pass KIMBERLY HART

and her daughter JASMINE (16, shy, tomboy), as well, Zack’s
daughter ANASTASIA (16, beautiful, dancer). Kimberly wipes
tears from her face. She and Tommy share a sympathetic look.
Kimberly lays a yellow rose on the casket as it passes by.

CUT TO:

INT. JASON & TRINI’S HOUSE, FOYER - MIDDAY

Jason stands at the front door saying goodbye to four (4)

Mourners from the service. Bulk and Skull approach.

JASON
Thank you both for being here and
helping out with the service. It
ST
means a lot to me and I know Trini
would be extremely grateful.

SKULL
She was a great boss and the best
mayor Angel Grove has ever had.

BULK
(beat)
I’m really sorry, Commish. We’ve
known you both since high school.
(MORE)

BULK (CONT’D)
This has been so devastating for
all of us and for the community.

JASON
Yes...Yes it has.
(beat)
See you Monday, Sheriff.
DA
BULK
I’ll be there, Commissioner. But
you, you should take some time.

Bulk and Skull shake hands & hug with Jason as they leave out
the front door. Jason closes the door and leans against it
with a heavy heart.

INT. JASON & TRINI’S HOUSE, LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Jason walks to the couch and sits next to Kimberly and

Jasmine.

Zack, Billy and Tommy are around the kitchen island in the

background.

ZACK
I guess it’s just down to the old
gang now.

JASMINE
YO
I’m going to go up and hang out
with everyone else upstairs.

KIMBERLY
Okay, sweetie.

Kimberly’s eyes follow her daughter as she leaves.

KIMBERLY (CONT’D)
Jasmine?
ST
Jasmine turns back toward her mom.

KIMBERLY (CONT’D)
I love you.

Jasmine smiles at her mom and leaves up the stairs in the

background.

KIMBERLY (CONT’D)
(beat, to Jason)
How you holding up?

JASON
It hasn’t been easy.

KIMBERLY
Jason, I’m so sorry. This is so
heartbreaking. I know your heart
must be shattered.
DA
JASON
You know...it really is.

Jason stands up a little dazed and walks toward the kitchen.

Zack notices Jason.

ZACK
Can I make you a drink?
VI
Jason stares blankly past Zack.

ZACK (CONT’D)
Jase... Jase, you okay?

Jason sullenly looks to Zack.

D
JASON
We had a fight... we were fighting.
She left to go for a drive to cool
off and that stupid drunk driver...

Jason’s voice cracks and tears begin to stream down his face.
YO
ZACK
Dude.
(hugging his friend)
Jason. It’s not your fault. Look at
me.

JASON
You don’t understand. It was so
stupid. Such a nothing
fight...she’s gone. It’s all my
fault.
ST
TOMMY
It’s not your fault.

JASON
It just doesn’t make sense. It
doesn’t feel real.
(quietly)
After everything we’ve been
through, the six of us...this isn’t
how we’re supposed to go.

KIMBERLY
(from the couch)
It’s easy to forget that we’re
human. I think when we were...
(quietly)
...the Power Rangers we developed a
false sense of invincibility.
DA
There is a silence among the group as they each ponder the
gravity of Trini’s death. Tommy sees Kimberly sitting on the
couch alone. He hesitantly crosses over and sits next to her.

TOMMY
Hey. How are you?

KIMBERLY
Tommy...I feel like I need to

explain.

TOMMY
No. No need to say anything. That’s
not why we’re here. Okay...? Okay?

KIMBERLY
D
(nodding)
Okay. It’s just...

TOMMY
(interrupting)
...Kim. Don’t. Not now.
YO
Kimberly’s eyes well up.

KIMBERLY
I’m sorry.
(Composing herself. Then to
everyone)
I just can’t believe she’s gone. I
keep calling her voicemail just so
I can hear her voice. Is that
wrong?
ST
Billy crosses to the couch and sits down.

BILLY
No. Of course not.

KIMBERLY
We talked the night before the
accident. We were making plans to
get together. And now...

A tear streams down Kimberly’s face. Tommy hugs her in his

arm. There is apprehension in his face. Zack & Jason come
over and they all sit together crying and comforting each

other, as they reminisce on the large sectional couch.

ZACK
This really is surreal. I’ll never
forget her laugh or her smile.

(Insert quick clips of Trini laughing)

KIMBERLY
She was magical. My lifelong best
VI
friend.

(Insert clips of Trini and Kimberly)

TOMMY
She always made me feel important,
you know. She somehow instilled in
D
me that I had value.

(Insert clips of Trini and Tommy)

BILLY
We always had a strong connection.
She understood me without even
YO
talking. I’m the man I am today
because of her.

(Insert clips of Trini and Billy)

Jason looks at Billy with a certain disdain.

JASON
She changed my life. She changed my
heart. I don’t know how I’m going
to do this without her.
ST
KIMBERLY
We’re here to help you in any way
you need.

ZACK
Definitely. Angela and I can take
the kids anytime you need a break.

TOMMY
Ryder and I can help around here
too if you need.

Suddenly loud banging is heard from the ceiling above and

dust falls to the ground.

JASON
(yelling)
JUSTIN!!! You guys better not be
playing “Dance, Go Go, Dance” up
DA
there! We’ve had this
discussion...only in the garage!!!

JUSTIN (O.S.)
(Yelling back)
Got it!

JASON
(shaking his head)
The interactive V.R. video games
VI
kids play these days...geesh.

ZACK
(yelling)
Anastasia, you better not be
involved in that!
D
ANASTASIA (O.S.)
(yelling back)
I’m not!

We hear the kids giggling upstairs.

ZACK
YO
It’s her favorite game. I know
she’s lying.

They all have a little laugh that breaks their sadness.

TOMMY
Billy, before Trini’s accident
happened you were trying to get us
all back together.

KIMBERLY
ST
Yeah. Trini said you guys had been
talking a lot lately. She said she
hadn’t heard your voice sound so
nervous.

Jason looks at Billy almost angry.

JASON
You were talking to my wife again?

BILLY
Jason.

JASON
Billy.

BILLY
I’m not sure now is the right time
to get into this.
DA
JASON
When is the right time, Billy?

Zack, Tommy and Kimberly look at each other uncomfortably.

WTF is going on here.

BILLY
Look. You should never question her
love for you. Okay?
VI
JASON
I don’t.

Jason and Billy share a tense moment between them.

BILLY
(then)
D
I’ve been trying to get us all back
together because I believe
something very sinister is
happening to planet Earth. Your
lives, our lives, and our
children’s lives are in serious
danger.
YO
(quietly)
We need to go somewhere private to
talk about this.

ZACK
The kids are upstairs. They wont
hear anything.

BILLY
No. This is private private.
ST
Jason letting his guard down, points to a bookcase near the
entrance to the den. As he stands...

JASON
Hold on. (yelling) Samantha!

No response.

JASON (CONT’D)
(louder)
SAM!

SAMANTHA (O.S.)
(yelling back)
WHAT!? Jeez.

Samantha comes to the bottom of the stairs.

JASON
DA
We’ll be back. We’re going to go
out for a bit.

SAMANTHA
(shocked)
Are you kidding!!? Where? It’s
mom’s funeral!

JASON
Keep an eye on your brothers.
VI
JUSTIN (O.S.)
(yelling)
I DON’T NEED A BABYSITTER.

Samantha stares at her father, rolls her eyes and gives him a
disgusted “I can’t believe you” look.
D
SAMANTHA
Figures.

KIMBERLY
Maybe we should stay.
YO
TOMMY
Samantha. We all love your mom very
much.

ZACK
Yeah. We were the best of friends,
the six of us, in high school.

SAMANTHA
(defensive)
I know. I’ve heard the stories.
ST
Whatever.

Samantha storms off.

JASON
Teenagers. What can I say, they’ve
got attitude.

Jason looks around and motions toward the bookcase in the

den. He crosses over to it and pulls out a book from the
shelf. He places his palm on a bio-reader that is located on
the book.

The bio-reader scans his palm which causes the bookcase to

open revealing a secret room. Jason crosses into the room.
The others begin to go in after him but Billy stops them.

BILLY
Jason, do you need to set a code so
the alarm doesn’t go off? Our DNA
DA
is different than your family’s.

Jason looks at Billy somewhat suspicious.

JASON
Oh. Right.

Jason goes to another panel and punches in a code.

JASON (CONT’D)
VI
Ok. Safe.

The four Rangers enter the secret room and the bookcase
closes behind them. The book slides back into place on the
shelf. Jasons’ son, Toby, has been hiding around the corner.
He is amazed and shocked at what he sees. He runs up the
stairs to the other kids.

INT. JASON AND TRINI’S HOUSE, HIDDEN BUNKER - CONTINUOUS

The five Rangers enter a high tech doomsday bunker. They walk
around the room and take in the surroundings. Bunkbeds line
YO
one wall, a large conference table is in the center with 6
chairs, another wall has monitors and high-tech equipment on
it.

ZACK
What the...Yo Jay, what is this?

JASON
Trini’s the Mayor. I’m the Police
Commissioner. We’ve had credible
threats. We need to be prepared for
ST
any circumstance.

TOMMY
Wow. I’m so sorry you both had to
resort to such an extreme measure
for your safety.

KIMBERLY
(to Billy)
Why did we have to come in here?

BILLY
(apprehensive)
This is an incredibly difficult
time for all of us. Especially you,
Jason. But..I need your help. And I
wanted to make sure we were
somewhere we could talk freely.
DA
CUT TO:

INT. JASON AND TRINI’S HOUSE, KIDS’ LOFT - DAY

Toby comes running into the room.

TOBY
You guys! You guys! You’re never
gonna guess what I just saw!
VI
JUSTIN
Toby, relax. What’d you see?

TOBY
A secret room.
D
JUSTIN
A what?

TOBY
Dad and the others disappeared into
a secret room.
YO
SAMANTHA
Toby. Stop.

TOBY
I swear.

JUSTIN
How many times have you sworn
before? Then we find out it’s a
lie.
ST
TOBY
No REALLY! I swear, I swear, I
swear! I really mean it.

SAMANTHA
Remember when mom told you the
story about the boy who cried wolf?

TOBY
This is different. Please!

Justin and Samantha go back to playing video games and

watching Youtube. Ryder sees Toby’s desperation. He puts his
hand on Toby’s shoulder.

RYDER
I believe you.
DA
Anastasia kneels down in front of Toby.

ANASTASIA
I believe you too.

RYDER
Come on. Show us where you saw the
secret room.

SAMANTHA
VI
You guys are wasting your time.

JUSTIN
Trust us.

Ryder nods to Samantha and Justin “probably,” but then looks

to Toby.

RYDER
Let’s do this!

Anastasia, Ryder, and Toby leave.

CUT TO:
YO
INT. JASON AND TRINI’S HOUSE, HIDDEN BUNKER - DAY

The five Adult Rangers are gathered in the center around a

table.

KIMBERLY
Billy no. No way.

ZACK
You want us to Ranger up...again?
ST
TOMMY
Those powers were destroyed years
ago.

JASON
I have three kids that just lost
their mom. I can’t risk them losing
another parent.

BILLY
Look...Jason, you and Trini
basically are in charge of Angel
Grove, Zack you work at the UN,
Tommy you’re a Paleontologist and
Kimberly you’re a famous singer.
You’ve all gone on to do incredible
DA
things. I’ve been up there.
(pointing to the sky)
But no matter how far we’ve come as
individuals nothing has ever felt
as important as when we were a
team.

ZACK
When we were the Power Rangers.
VI
BILLY
I’ve seen things.

TOMMY
We’ve all seen things...we used to
fight and destroy some really crazy
“things.”
D
BILLY
My point is this. There is a
darkness coming. Something far
superior to anything we’ve ever
taken on. I have seen it and
experienced it and it terrified me
YO
to my core...which these days isn’t
easy.

Billy takes a moment to think how to address his former

teammates.

BILLY (CONT’D)
Let me ask you this...think over
the past two months...have any of
you gotten a splinter randomly?
ST
TOMMY
A splinter?

BILLY
This is serious. I really need you
all to think hard about this, even
if it seems trivial or
insignificant.

The four rangers look around to each other and start

thinking.

KIMBERLY
(realizing)
I was gardening about a month ago
and got a splinter in my right
index finger...I thought it was
odd. I tried to get it out but
couldn’t. Eventually it
DA
disappeared.

TOMMY
About two weeks ago I was
practicing a kata with a bow staff
and felt a slice in my right hand.
I looked at my palm and noticed a
splinter. It was strange but I
brushed it off because the staff
was made of wood. I forgot all
VI
about it until just now.

BILLY
(beat)
Zack? Jason?

JASON
D
What is this about?

BILLY
Can you remember anything like
that? It’s imperative for you to
remember.
YO
Jason takes a moment.

JASON
No. No splinter. The only weird
thing I remember is Trini and I
getting stung by a bee...the same
bee. Back to back. Like zap zap. We
both were like “what just
happened?”

BILLY
ST
That’s even worse.

KIMBERLY
Billy you’re freaking me out.
What’s going on?

BILLY
Come here. Give me your hand.

Billy pulls out a small wand device and runs it over

Kimberly’s hand. The device detects the splinter.

BILLY (CONT’D)
I need you to hold still, okay?
Take a deep breath.

Billy zaps Kimberly’s hand.

KIMBERLY
DA
Ahh (ouch)...

BILLY
Stay still.

Billy slowly pulls out what appears to be a minute splinter.

BILLY (CONT’D)
My team and I have been working on
what this is. I want you all to see
VI
it.

Billy uses his high-tech phone to magnify the splinter. A

photo of the splinter projects onto a large screen/monitor on
the wall. The more it becomes magnified the more we are able
to make out a “Bee” emblem in the center of the splinter.

BILLY (CONT’D)
Welcome to “Operation Buzz Kill.”

ZACK
What are you talking about?

BILLY
YO
Planet Earth is in grave danger.
There are forces plotting against
the inhabitants of Earth and this
is only the beginning.

TOMMY
We rid the Earth of stuff like this
a long time ago by eliminating Zedd
and Rita.

KIMBERLY
ST
Can you take the splinters out of
them too?

BILLY
I can, but since we are all in such
close proximity it will most likely
set off an alarm to whomever is
embedding these in every human.

TOMMY
You’re saying that every human on
the planet has been “stung” with
one of these “splinters?”

BILLY
Precisely.
DA
JASON
There are 7 billion people on the
planet.

Billy shakes his head yes. The others try to take in the
enormity of the entire planet.

KIMBERLY
What about Zack?
VI
TOMMY
Zack? Anything happen to you?

ZACK
(appearing to make it up
as he goes)
D
Oh right. Yeah. I remember stepping
on the bathroom floor and
feeling...like a...a prick. I
looked at the bottom of my big toe
and noticed a splinter
too...Eventually it went away.
YO
KIMBERLY
Wait. You took mine out! Did you
set off an alarm about me?

BILLY
Potentially.

KIMBERLY
(smacking Billy on the
arm)
What are you thinking?
ST
ZACK
Uncool, man.

BILLY
You guys...it’s me. I have you
covered. I disabled it with an
energy interference. If anything,
whoever it is will think yours
shorted out. They will try to sting
you again.

JASON
Billy, you said “even worse” for
Trini and I. Why?

BILLY
I haven’t been able to isolate why
some individuals get an actual bee
DA
sting as opposed to a sliver. But
it does seem like the people that
are getting the bee stings are
people in high powered positions.
Zack, I’m really surprised you
weren’t stung by a bee. Are you
certain you didn’t get stung?

ZACK
I’d remember getting stung by a
VI
bee. I’m allergic.

BILLY
Hmmm...interesting. We’ve concluded
that since it is an artificial
alien sting that it wont have any
adverse side effects, such as an
D
allergy, on an individual.

TOMMY
Billy...what does all of this mean
for us?

Billy looks to the group putting both his arms out “like
YO
hello.”

KIMBERLY
Please don’t ask us.

BILLY
We were...we are the best.

JASON
But how? How do we become Power
Rangers again?
ST
TOMMY
Trini’s not here. She’s a vital
element to our team.

BILLY
Things can be recreated. Enhanced.
Even made better. Trini’s powers
will be with us and will be
essential to our success. She is
with us.
(MORE)

BILLY (CONT’D)
(beat)
Everyone close your eyes.

Everyone complies. Billy fusses with his hands hidden from

camera.

BILLY (CONT’D)
DA
Ok. Open them.

Billy holds out six high tech, updated communicators in

individualized colors.

BILLY (CONT’D)
I think you all remember something
similar to this.

He passes the communicators out respectively to each ranger

VI
by color. Suddenly they all notice that the yellow
communicator is left in Billy’s hand. They all have a
collective moment of what does this mean. Billy gently lays
the communicator on the table.

BILLY (CONT’D)
Put them on. We need to go.
D
ZACK
Go where?

BILLY
You’ll see.
(beat)
YO
Kimberly?

KIMBERLY
Billy, I’m not sure I’m up for this
again.

TOMMY
Come on. Billy says the world is in
danger. If there is even a remote
chance for us to help, we should.
ST
Kimberly puts her communicator on. Everyone steadies
themselves and pushes the two buttons on their communicator
that teleports them out. As they teleport, the yellow
communicator falls to the ground.

INT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Toby, Anastasia and Ryder come into the living room.

TOBY
Over there by those things.

ANASTASIA
The books?

TOBY
DA
Yeah those. That’s where I saw them
disappear. They were standing right
here and then the “book” case
opened and they walked in.

Ryder feels around the bookcase.

RYDER
Hmmm...it seems solid. Is there
anything else you can remember
VI
seeing?

Toby shakes his head “No.”

ANASTASIA
Well there’s got to be something
that made the bookcase open, right?
D
Toby shakes his head “Yes.”

RYDER
Let’s see...

Anastasia and Ryder both run their hands along the middle
YO
shelf of the bookcase from opposite ends. Their hands meet in
the middle and touch. They have a moment.

ANASTASIA RYDER (CONT’D)

Here... Here...

Their hands are resting on a book. They pull the book at the
same time and the bookcase doesn’t open. Toby rolls his eyes.

TOBY
Easy, lovebirds.
ST
ANASTASIA
Look, on the side of this book. It
looks like some kind of hand
imprint reader thing.

Ryder puts his hand on it. It lights up but says “Access

Denied.”

RYDER
Toby, try putting your hand up
here.

Toby does and the biometric reader displays “Access Granted.”

The bookcase opens.

RYDER (CONT’D)
Holy crap!

ANASTASIA
DA
Toby, you were right!

TOBY
Told you.

Toby runs into the room.

ANASTASIA
(yelling after him)
Toby wait, don’t...
VI
RYDER
...too late.

They run in after him. An alarm goes off. All three stop and
look around the room completely transfixed by what they see.
The alarm is still blaring. Suddenly Samantha, Justin and
D
Jasmine run into the room.

JASMINE
(yelling over the alarm)
Holy crap!

RYDER
YO
(yelling over the alarm)
That’s what I said.

JASMINE
(yelling over the alarm)
What is this place?

TOBY
(yelling over the alarm)
I told you guys! I told you!
ST
JUSTIN
(yelling over the alarm)
We’ve got to shut the alarm off!

Ryder takes off his shirt revealing his ripped body. He jumps
up on the table and tries to muffle the alarm with his shirt.

SAMANTHA
(yelling over the alarm)
Of course he takes off his shirt.

RYDER
(yelling)
I bet one of your hands can shut
the alarm off...it was Toby’s hand
that opened the door.

ANASTASIA
DA
(yelling)
Look, over here!

Everyone runs over to where Anastasia is standing. There is a

biometric hand reader.

ANASTASIA (CONT’D)
Samantha, put your hand on here!!!

Samantha does, but nothing. Justin notices the code panel.

JUSTIN
(Yelling over the alarm)
Maybe we need to enter a code over
here.

Samantha runs over, studies it for a quick second and then

punches in 1-2-2-5-2-0-0-5. The alarm stops.

SAMANTHA
So lame. Too easy.

JUSTIN
What was it?
YO
SAMANTHA
The day mom and dad got married.

Suddenly the bookcase door begins to shut, the kids run

toward it but it’s too late. The door shuts, locking them in.
The six kids look to each other.

CUT TO:

INT. DINER - MIDDAY

ST
Bulk and Skull are sitting at a booth, drinking coffee.
Bulk’s “Sheriff” vehicle is parked in front of the diner and
seen through the windows. A waitress, HAZEL, refills Bulk’s
coffee cup.

HAZEL
Piping hot just like you like it.

Hazel walks off behind the counter. Skull stares out the
window in a bit of a daze.

SKULL
Such a rough day.
(beat)
I feel guilty trying to fill her
shoes.

BULK
DA
Skull...we’ve been through this.
The city needs your leadership.

Bulk’s cell phone rings. He motions to Skull with his finger

“One second.”

BULK (CONT’D)
Yeah, go...What?...Really? And
you’ve tried multiple times?...I
was just there forty-five minutes
VI
ago..I don’t...I’ll meet you there.
(Hangs up)
You’re not going to believe this.

They grab their belongings, Skull throws money down on the

The kids are feeling around the sealed door trying to pull

It’s obviously not working for any
of them. It seems like there should
be a hand reader right here by the
door. It makes no sense.

Samantha begins to cry. Anastasia goes over and puts her arm

Ryder looks around and really studies the interior.

And why that reader over there
didn’t open the door.

TOBY
Maybe dad put some kind of a hidden
security measure on it.

INT. COMMAND CENTER - MIDDAY

Our OG Adult Rangers teleport into a Command Center that
looks half destroyed and half like a heavily upgraded,
technologically advanced version of what they had when they
were the Original Power Rangers. A VIEWING GLOBE floating
above a flat surface that has a high-tech MAP of most of the
known Universe. There is also a COLUMN for Zordon. There is a
COMMAND STAGE in the center as before.

TOMMY
Wow! Look at this place. Billy did
you rebuild this?

BILLY
I can’t take all the credit. I have

a team helping me.

Just then two very tall, model perfect, twin boys come in
with high-tech clipboards. These are Billy’s children,
OTARIOUS ([Oh-T-air-E-Us] 18, athletic) and OLCIGI, ([Ole-See-
Gee] 18, also athletic but in a high-tech wheelchair).

BILLY (CONT’D)
You’ve never met them in person but
these are my boys. Otarious and
Olcigi.

ZACK
Ummm...you are some big boys.

KIMBERLY
And beautiful.

JASON
It’s nice to finally meet you in
person.

Billy stands between his two boys...they at 6’5” and Billy at

5’8” is an interesting sight.

TOMMY
Your private life has always been
secretive. You sure they’re your

“Rangers, behold the viewing
globe.” I always wanted to say
that.

The adult rangers stand around the table and look at the
viewing globe. They see a foreign planet, Bee Hive Colony 6.

The footage continues to zoom in closer and closer, finally
landing on a heavily built fortress that resembles a Beehive.
The scope and magnitude is hard for the rangers to grasp.

OTARIUS
This is the fortress of Empress
Buzzaleena. It’s approximately the
size of Planet Earth’s continent of
Australia.

OLCIGI
ST
It is a self-sustaining fortress
that is powered by what appears to
be nuclear energy, mercury and and
potentially gold. We think that may
be a reason why she is planning to
do something to Planet Earth.

It could be that she is trying to
steal the planets resources or
simply trying to utilize the
nuclear energy from the planet to
power her base. It remains a
mystery to what her motives are.

JASON
How does the splinter factor in? Or
the bee sting?

BILLY
Again, we’re not 100% sure at this
point but the splinters and the
stings are similar technology to
what is just now being developed on

Planet Earth.

OTARIOUS
Nanotechnology and nanorobots.

ZACK
Nano whats?

BILLY
Nanorobots. They’re DNA Robots that
are able to change people at a
cellular level.

OLCIGI
YO
They are typically developed for
the medical field. They can be
inserted into a person who has
cancer, lets say, and the nanorobot
has the DNA sequence of healthy
cells. The nanotechnology is able
to attack the cancer cells.

OTARIOUS
We’ve been working on something
similar for Olcigi to see if the

nanorobots can help him walk.

OLCIGI
No such luck.

KIMBERLY
Do we have any idea how this
Buzzaleena is going to use these
Robots in us?

We were able to trace a similar act
she committed on another planet.

TOMMY
And?

BILLY
It did not end well. She wiped out
the planet’s entire population. The
nanorobots, I’m hypothesizing,
created a genetic defect in the DNA
sequence turning the body against
itself.

ZACK
So these slivers or bee stings can

KIMBERLY
Trying to kill us from the inside
out?

BILLY

Affirmative.

INT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, HIDDEN BUNKER - MIDDAY

The kids are still trying to figure out how to get out of the

Bunker but to no avail.

JASMINE
Here’s my question that we haven’t
addressed, if our parents came in
here, where are they? Where’d they
go?

Toby notices something laying on the floor. He goes over and

picks it up and studies it.
ST
TOBY
I wonder what this is?

He holds it up and shows it to everyone. It’s the yellow

communicator.

RYDER
Let me see that.

Just as Ryder goes to grab it, Toby pushes the two buttons on
it and he and Ryder are teleported out of the room.

HOLY SHIT.

INT. COMMAND CENTER - CONTINUOUS

Toby and Ryder land in the Command Center, Center Stage.

TOBY
HOLY SHIT!

The OG Adult Rangers, Olcigi and Otarious turn to see Toby

and Ryder lying on the floor of the Command Center

Holy shit.

INT. BULKS POLICE VEHICLE - CONTINUOUS

EXT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, FRONT YARD - CONTINUOUS

Bulk and Skull come speeding up to Jason’s house where
several police cars have surrounded the premises. They jump
out of the car. Bulk approaches OFFICER #1.

BULK
I don’t hear the alarm.

OFFICER 1
Negative. It was disabled from
inside the home somehow. We’ve
ST
searched the premises and immediate
perimeter. No one.

They move toward the house. Bulk places his hand on the gun
in his holster. Skull peers through one of the windows.

SKULL
Did you see anything suspicious?

OFFICER 1
Negative.

More Officers from the Back-up Units descend out of the

house. OFFICER 2 approaches Bulk, Skull and Officer 1.

OFFICER 2
All clear, sir.

BULK
DA
We left the house about an hour ago
and there were at least 12 people
here.

OFFICER 2
We’ve searched thoroughly. No sign
of anyone, no sign of forced entry.
Maybe it was just a false alarm?

BULK
VI
Nah, the Commissioner would call.
Something’s happened.

SKULL
But what? Twelve people don’t just
disappear.
D
BULK
Or do they?

Bulk and Skull enter the house.

INT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, HIDDEN BUNKER - CONTINUOUS

The remaining kids are still in shock at what they just

witnessed.

ANASTASIA
You guys, what just happened?

SAMANTHA
I don’t know.
ST
JASMINE
I mean, they just disappeared.

JUSTIN
Like what you think magic is
supposed to do.

Anastasia is fiddling with some of the buttons on a control

console. One of the monitors pops on and the kids are now
able to see Bulk, Skull and the Police Officers moving about
the house.

ANASTASIA
Look. The police are here.

SAMANTHA
Come on! We need to let them know
that we’re trapped in here.
DA
Samantha motions for the kids to come over to the door. They
all start banging and yelling.

EVERYONE
We’re in here! Help us! Get us out
of here!

INT. JASON AND TRINI'S HOUSE, LIVING AREA - CONTINUOUS

Bulk and Skull walk around the house followed by Officer 1.

SKULL
(to Officer 1)
When we left, most of the kids were
upstairs and everyone else was down
here.

BULK
We have to be missing something.
Look closely at everything.

Bulk and Skull make their way into the den area where the
bookcase is. Bulk notices something odd on the bookcase. He
walks over to it and rubs his hands across the books. Skull
YO
does the same. Skull’s hand lands on the book that has the
bio-reader on it. It is sticking out slightly. He pushes it
back into place. Nothing. He stares at it for a second and
then moves on, continuing to scour the area.

Split screen. Bulk and Skull are standing on the one side of
the bookcase and the kids are on the other side banging on
the bookcase door screaming but Bulk and Skull hear nothing.

BULK (CONT’D)
Notice anything, Skull?
ST
SKULL
Nothing yet. Everything in the
house looks normal.

BULK
Yeah...it’s like they vanished into
thin air.

SKULL
Bulk, I do remember Trini
mentioning to me once that they had
a secret bunker being built into
the house for their safety.

BULK
DA
Did she tell you where the bunker
was?

SKULL
No. She just mentioned that they
were having it built because they
were worried about their kids.
However, they didn’t want to tell
the kids because it might scare
them.
VI
BULK
Makes sense.
(beat)
Officer!

OFFICER 1
D
Yes, sheriff.

BULK
Lets get a radar device in here to
detect any hidden walls, floors or
anomalies.

OFFICER 1
On it, sir.

BULK
Skull, keep looking around.

CUT TO:

INT. COMMAND CENTER - MOMENTS LATER

Toby and Ryder remain sitting on the Command Center floor

after accidentally teleporting in. ATOM12 (Billy’s High-Tech
Robot) walks in, seemingly from nowhere, and notices Ryder
and Toby.

ATOM12
Holy shit!

Ryder, Toby and the OG Rangers, except Billy, respond to

seeing Atom12 for the first time.

(to Atom12)
Holy shit!

ATOM12
Billy...you made a mess.

BILLY
Thanks Atom12.

TOMMY
Ryder, what are you doing here?

RYDER
Dad? What is this place?

JASON
VI
Toby, are you ok?

TOBY
Hell yeah! Wow! This place is
amazing!

Toby runs around looking at all the cool gadgets and

controls.

BILLY
Don’t touch anything, please!

RYDER
Uncle Billy strikes again. You

built this, huh?

BILLY
In the process of rebuilding it
with some help.

KIMBERLY
Billy...what do we do now?

TOBY
About what?

ZACK
Yeah, I mean the cat’s out of the
bag as they say. How do we explain
this?

RYDER
Explain what? Why we’re here?

TOBY
Yeah, what is this anyway?

Toby holds up the communicator.

BILLY
Hey hey...don’t touch anymore
buttons on that. Please.

Billy motions for Otarious to retrieve the communicator.

DA
Otarious crosses toward Toby but Toby puts the Communicator
behind his back. He runs and hides behind Ryder.

JASON
Toby, give the communicator to
Otarious.

RYDER
We know it’s called a communicator
now.
VI
KIMBERLY
How did you even get that?

TOBY
I found it on the ground in the
secret room.
D
JASON
The secret room? Toby, you went
into the bunker?

TOBY
Yeah, I saw all of you disappear
YO
into the bookcase so I told all the
others.

KIMBERLY
So, Jasmine and all the others kids
know about the secret room too?

RYDER
We got locked in. We couldn’t get
the hand reader to let us out.
ST
BILLY
The kill switch.

TOBY
The WHAT switch?

BILLY
The kill switch. If all three of
the Scott children are in the
bunker it has an automatic kill
switch not to allow anyone in or
out unless the switch is disarmed.

ZACK
How do they disarm it?

BILLY
It would take all three to place
their palms on the biometric reader

in order of sequence, meaning in
order of age.

JASON
(confused)
How do you know so much about the
mechanics of my bunker?

Billy hesitates.
VI
BILLY
Trini had asked me...

JASON
(angry)
...don’t say anymore.

KIMBERLY
So all the kids trapped in the room
right now?

RYDER
When we left, yes.
YO
KIMBERLY
Billy, we need to get them out of
there.

ZACK
Can you teleport them all here?

TOMMY
Is that even smart to do? That will
compromise everything even further.
ST
RYDER
Compromise what?

BILLY
If we brought them here, they will
figure out and know who we are.

ZACK
Well, these two have seen this
place. The others saw them
disappear. I would love it if we
could be honest with our kids.

Tommy looks to Ryder.

TOMMY
Who knows, they might even be able
to help in some way.

KIMBERLY
They’re too young.

ZACK
Kimberly, they’re the same age as
we were when Zordon recruited us.

TOBY RYDER

Tommy and I can go back and get the
kids. We’ll tell you when to
teleport us all back.

BILLY
Take Toby with you to disarm the

door. Plus I’ll need to cross patch
the communicators to get everyone
back here since the Command Center
isn’t up to full speed.

Billy hands Toby the yellow communicator.

YO
BILLY (CONT’D)
This is your mother’s. Take care of
it.

Billy places the communicator around Toby’s wrist.

JASON
(to Toby)
And it’s only for this one time.

Toby admires Trini’s communicator and then takes a deep

breath. Tommy, Jason, and Toby steady themselves, push the
buttons on their communicators and teleport out.

CUT TO:

INT. BEE HIVE COLONY 6, BUZZALEENA’S LAIR - DAY

ECU of the what appears to be a Beehive. BUZZALEENA (Evil

Empress of Bee Hive Colony 6) turns around toward camera
revealing the Beehive to be her hair. As we pull back, her
full evil glory is revealed.

BUZZALEENA
Buzzbee, are all the parameters in
place to initiate Phase 1?

BUZZBEE (a blue bee, guy Friday to Buzzaleena) enters the

frame.

BUZZBEE
Yes, Empress!

BUZZALEENA
Perfect. Let the games begin.

Buzzbee pushes some buttons on a console and they watch on a

large screen. Large hangar doors open and cargo spaceships
full of bee-like creatures, THE BUZZIES, start flying off
toward Earth.
VI
EXT. DEEP SPACE, EARTH’S ATMOSPHERE - CONTINUOUS

We see the ships orbiting Earth. They fly further into the
Earth’s atmosphere. As the ships get closer to the ground,

the Buzzies begin to leap from the ships and fly toward
Earth.

INT. BEE HIVE COLONY 6, BUZZALEENA’S LAIR - CONTINUOUS

YO
Buzzaleena and Buzzbee continue to watch the screen as it
becomes focused more on planet Earth, and then more
specifically Angel Grove.

EXT. ANGEL GROVE - CONTINUOUS - VARIOUS LOCATIONS

We see the swarm of bee-like creatures landing in Angel

Grove. The sound of the Buzzies is deafening, like a
locomotive, and the force of their wings cause the ground

shake like an earthquake. Everyday citizens start running in
a panic. Cars slamming on their brakes. People hiding &
running for cover. TOWNSPEOPLE are yelling!!!

Yes Empress! You are the bees

(aside to himself)
I don’t even know what that means.

Buzzbee looks back to Buzzaleena and gives her a fake, but

approving smile.

INT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, HIDDEN BUNKER - CONTINUOUS

Jason, Tommy and Toby teleport into the Hidden Room.

JUSTIN
Dad!
YO
SAMANTHA
Toby, you’re okay!

JASMINE
Where did you guys come from?

ANASTASIA
We’ve been trapped in here and
can’t figure out how to get out.
ST
TOMMY
You all are going to be okay. We’re
here to get you out.

JASMINE
Where’s my mom?

JASON
We’re going to take you to her.

Just then, a strong earthquake is felt from the force of the

Buzzies landing near the Jason and Trini’s house.

The group looks to the monitors and see the Bee-like

creatures landing outside. They see the police running for
cover, getting in their cars and speeding away. Officer 1
fires his gun at the Buzzies, which they do not like. He is
scooped up by two Buzzies and flown away. The group notices
Bulk and Skull being surrounded by the Buzzies.
DA
TOMMY
Oh no...Bulk and Skull are out
there. Jason, disarm the door!

JASON
Toby, Justin, Samantha...over here.
Place your right hands on this
reader.

They place their hands on the biometric reader in order of

age and the door slides open.

JUSTIN
That was so easy.

INT./EXT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, LIVING ROOM - CONTINUOUS

Jason & Tommy now standing in the den/living area talking

back to the kids in the bunker.

JASON
You kids stay in here. Toby, stay

in here, understood?

TOBY
(reluctant)
Yes.

Tommy and Jason turn and see Bulk and Skull standing out in
the yard looking around confused. The Buzzies are beginning
to land around them. Tommy and Jason run toward the back
sliding glass door and open it.

JASON
(calling out to Bulk &
Skull)
Sheriff, Sheriff! Skull get in
here!

Bulk and Skull turn back and notice Jason and Tommy standing
in the doorway motioning for them. Bulk and Skull make a run
for it.

SKULL
What’s happening?

TOMMY
We don’t know but we’re gonna find
out.

Bulk and Skull enter the house.

INT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, HIDDEN BUNKER - CONTINUOUS

Bulk, Skull, Jason and Tommy run toward the bunker and step
inside the door. Tommy and Jason remain in the doorway.

SKULL
(looking around the
Bunker)
Was I right or was I right?

BULK
(to everyone)
Is everyone ok? Commissioner, we
were getting worried. There was a
distress signal coming from your
home.

(looking around)
Is everyone accounted for?

JASON
Sheriff...

BULK
YO
...where’s Zack?

SKULL
And Kimberly and Billy? Isn’t there
a kid missing too?

TOMMY
We’ve got this covered guys. Just
stay in here to be safe.

BULK
ST
My job is to protect and serve.

JASON
Not this time, Sheriff.

Jason and Tommy are now standing on the outside of the bunker
door and everyone else is on the inside. Jason puts his hand
on the biometric reader and the door shuts.

JASON (CONT’D)
(into his communicator)
Billy, Billy, do you read?

BILLY (V.O.)
Go.

JASON
Billy, teleport everyone out of the
bunker immediately.
DA
TOMMY
Everyone?

Now realizing that Bulk and Skull have been thrown into the
mix, they share a look and nod in agreement, understanding
the consequences. The Buzzies can be seen outside descending
from the sky.

TOMMY (CONT’D)
(into communicator)
VI
Billy, do it! This looks pretty
dire.

INT. COMMAND CENTER - CONTINUOUS

D
Kimberly runs over to the viewing globe.

KIMBERLY
Everyone, look!

Everyone runs over to the viewing globe and sees the swarm of
Buzzies landing in Angel Grove.
YO
ZACK
What’s happening to the city?

KIMBERLY
What are those things?

BILLY
It looks like the attack I was
fearing is happening sooner than I
anticipated.

EXT. JASON & TRINI'S HOUSE, BACKYARD - CONTINUOUS

Jason and Tommy are standing at the sliding glass door.

Suddenly the whole house shakes violently and the sound of
buzzing is heard.

JASON
(into communicator)
Billy, teleport everyone now!

Jason and Tommy run outside. They look to the sky and really
try to take in what these bee-like creatures are.

TOMMY
What the...?

Just then, a Buzzie kicks Jason in the chest, sending him to

the ground.

TOMMY (CONT’D)
Jason!

Jason is dazed. He looks up at Tommy confused. He shakes his

head trying to get back to reality.

TOMMY (CONT’D)
Jason! Hey, you ok?
VI
Tommy and Jason look to each other and have a committed
understanding between them. Tommy grabs Jason’s hand and
helps him up. They share a nod.

JASON
Let’s do this.
D
Jason and Tommy get back to back preparing to launch into a
civilian fight against the Buzzies.

As we fade out, the scene turns from “Live Action” into a

very “stylized Japanese Anime” as we see Tommy and Jason back
to back and Buzzies flying all around them.
