How Does
it Work?
The OnCampus Program serves as the first phase of the annual US $1,000,000 Hult
Prize competition. Student volunteers, known as Campus Directors, organize
training programs and community events at their universities focused on this
year's Hult Prize Call to Action.
The goal of every OnCampus Program is to select one winning team, who will
represent their university in the Regional Summits.

as Regional Summit Winners to qualify for the Global Accelerator. The round
provides the Hult Prize global pool of experts with the opportunity to submit
recommendations of the best startups from the Regionals who did not win
their event.
All 2nd Chance Round submissions are reviewed by the Hult Prize team, with
a few being selected each year for a spot at the Global Accelerator.

14 Welcome Guide
This year’s Hult Prize Call to Action addresses SDG #8: Decent
Work & Economic Growth because not only have millions have
lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic but those jobs
are unlikely come back in the same way. The world of work
has experienced a dramatic shift!
With so many people currently struggling, we believe this is the perfect time
for changemakers to get the world back to work.
As of January 2021, job losses stand at 255 million, while upwards of 1.6 billion
informal economy workers have also been significantly affected.
“As is the case for the entire crisis, those living in developing countries and
fragile contexts face the most dramatic risks or have least resilience.”
With so many people currently out of work, we believe this is the perfect time for
you to rethink meaningful work at scale.

Milestones & Resources
This section aims to guide competitors through key milestones during their Hult
Prize journey. As you further understand what’s vital for your startup to succeed, it
will become increasingly important for you to prioritize which milestones you
focus on, adapt, or create on your own. Accumulatively, these set of milestones
shall prepare you for the US$1M pitch and launch your impact startup.
1. Team Milestone
Full Team
A full team refers to the networks and relationships you (co-founders) and your
business are a part of. Human capital leads to the growth and scalability of your
startup, hence your team’s talents should be diversified to develop dynamic
capability and competitive advantage.
This milestone will help you understand the strengths and weaknesses of your
current team, and what kind of people you should be trying to bring to surround
your team, including potential advisors, employees, customers, local authorities,
investors, university professors, etc.
Back to Home
23 www.hultprize.org
2. Product/Service Milestones
Problem Defined
Find out what is the root cause of the problem. Identify the root cause and fix the
issue at its heart rather than the rippling effects. Then, tell the story about the
scope and scale of the problem you are solving by providing a clear problem
statement using information backed by research.
While defining the problem is just half the story, we want to know deeper
indications, the effect, the other triggers, and the connections between these
variables - a 'Root Cause Analysis', and not resorting to ‘Solution Bias’.
Solution Defined
Solution refers to either your product or service delivered to your target
customer. It shall be challenge aligned, well-thought out to directly solve the
customer’s problem you have identified previously and processed via theory of
change model to match outputs to your impact outcomes.

Company 1-Pager
A company 1-pager, sometimes called a 1-pager investor strategy or a 1-pager
business plan, is a concise snapshot of a startup and its unique value
proposition. An effective one-pager quickly orients the reader to the value of your
business, whether the reader is a customer, investor, potential partner, and more
without further research needed. You may refer to examples for inspiration, but it
is crucial to be creative and have your own signature!

Go to Market
A Go-to-Market (GTM) strategy is a focused action plan created to successfully
release or promote a product/service to market, specifying how your startup will
reach its target customers and make the sales.
A solid and comprehensive go-to-market strategy will give you a framework for
measuring your progress along the way, and help you detect and diagnose any
issues that may affect your success before they have the chance to run your
startup into the ground.

Event Guidelines
• Dress code is business attire.
• The Hult Prize Committee will not answer any 'Call to Action' related
questions during preparation.
• Always keep yourself on mute unless invited to speak by the moderator.
• You need to be on time, always, there is no buffer time in the schedule.
• Teams will have 8 minutes to present their solution, broken down into a
4 minutes pitch and a 4 minutes Q&A with judges; be sure to prepare
your presentation accordingly.
• Make sure you have a strong internet connection. Be connected to your
pitching room at the beginning of your pitching round; late arrival can
lead to exclusion from parts or the entire event.
• Teams may be invited to share their peer feedback with the judges;
remember to pay attention to your fellow startups pitches and be
respectful and thoughtful when sharing input.
• You will be asked to submit your recorded pitch beforehand. Have it at
hand, in case you face technical difficulties on the day of the event.
Presentations must be submitted in PowerPoint or PDF format.
• Judges may engage your team in a call-back session for further clarity
on your proposal. This is not an indication of advancement to the final
pitching round.
• All presentations must be sent to a specified email address when the
preparation time is over. No further edits or changes are permitted after
submission.
• Assign a timekeeper; the moderator will mute any presentations longer
than 4 minutes.
• Even under the stress of competition, please remember to be respectful
and courteous to all participants, volunteers, judges, and members of
the Hult Prize Committee.
• Any breach of above may lead to dismissal from the competition.
