To understand who you’re pitching
your content to, you need to break
down the characteristics of the
hypothetical person at the other side
of the camera. This serves as a
guiding light for your content and the
tone of your delivery. It may be the
case that you’re making videos for the
person you were two years ago, or
you may have unique insight into a
field which you want to share with
people. These exercises give you
clarity on exactly who that person is
and what you’re contributing to their
life through your videos.

Think about your “audience avatar”,

the person at the other side of the
camera who is a member of your ideal
audience. The more detail here, the
better.
How old are they?
What do they do all day?
:
How do they spend their week?
What are their hobbies?
What do they care about?
What's their financial situation?
How they feel about their jobs?
What are their struggles in life?
What aspect of their lives affects how you
create our videos for them?
How would they feel when clicking on your
video?
What are they left with after watching it?
How does your video solve a need or ease
a pain for them?
What's the thing that would make them
subscribe and come back for more?

Ali: You can make great content for

thousands and thousands of people,
by targeting just one (or a few) of
them. Start by creating “personas”
(character descriptions) for up to
three members of your ideal target
audience.
