Shapes- Rectangle - Lesson Plan

Lesson Objectives

At the end of this lesson students will be able to:

• Identify and relate with the rectangle shape.

• Name the shapes correctly rectangle regardless of its size, color & orientation.
• Begin to draw & color the rectangle shape.

Teaching Learning Materials required:

• Blank sheet.
• Rectangle sponge pieces.
• Colored Glitters and Glue to paste.

Details of Teaching Learning Experience

Seating Arrangement: Normal

Lesson Beginning Whole Class

• Draw a rectangle on the board.

Time: 15 mins
• Call out the names of the shape and ask students to repeat loudly.
Purpose: Introduce • Ask students to identify rectangle in the classroom (you can guide them to
the topic smaller objects like wooden shapes, books, cards, pencil box, and bigger
objects windows and doors etc.).

Lesson Middle Individual

• Assign one piece of rectangular sponge to each student.

Time: 20 mins
• Ask them to glue the glitter on it.
Purpose: Develop • Guide them to experience the shape.

Lesson End Individual

• Ask the students to trace the rectangles. (Annex 1).

Time: 10 mins
