Transcription of Surah Al kahf 58-73

Ayah 58
ُ ُ‫َو َربُّكَ ْٱلغَف‬
َّ ‫ور ذُو‬
‫ٱلرحْ َمة‬
And your master is exceedingly forgiving.. He possesses mercy.. He owns mercy…
َ ‫لَ ْو ي َُؤاخذُ ُهم ب َما َك‬
‫سبُوا‬
And a proof of his forgiveness and mercy is, had he seize them, if he were to seize
them because of what they have earned…
َ َ‫لَ َع َّج َل لَ ُه ُم ْٱل َعذ‬
‫اب‬
Then punishment would have been expedited for them..
‫بَل لَّ ُهم َّم ْوعد‬
Rather the case is… the fact of the matter is that they have a deadline… they have
an actual meeting…
‫لَّن يَجدُوا من دُونهۦ َم ْوئ ًل‬
They are not gonna find any sort of encampment to be safe in…
‫ َم ْوئل‬is actually ‘a barn’… a barn or a fenced off field where they keep camels and
sheep, away from wolves and away from thieves.....and it has a good security system,
that is called ‫َم ْوئل‬
You are not gonna be able to hide… and even in the language it is suggested that
you are gonna try to hide like animals hide.. ‫لَّن يَجدُوا من دُونهۦ َم ْوئ ًل‬
Ayah 59
‫َوت ْلكَ ْٱلقُ َرى‬
Forget individuals that are trying to hide, I have even taken out entire towns…
‫ َوت ْلكَ ْٱلقُ َرى‬- those towns, entire civilizations..
‫أ َ ْهلَ ْكنَـ ُه ْم‬
We annihilated them… we destroyed them…
‫ظلَ ُموا‬
َ ‫لَ َّما‬
When they had done wrong…
‫ظلَ ُموا‬ َ ‫ – إ ْذ‬when
َ ‫ لَ َّما‬is a important language too… you know, it is different than ‫ظلَ ُموا‬
they did wrong…
It is ‫ظلَ ُموا‬
َ ‫ لَ َّما‬which is actually – ‘until the point they reached all the way eventually
to the point, where the only thing that can be said about that nation is – that they
have done wrong…. It is not one deed of wrong… but now their careers amounts to
just the people of wrongdoing…
‫َو َجعَ ْلنَا ل َم ْهلكهم َّم ْوعدًا‬
And we appointed for their place of destruction…
‫ َم ْهل ْك‬is like ‫ … َم ْفع ْل‬it is a ‫ظرف‬
َ .... Zarf zaman and Zarf makan...
So, their time and place of destruction was set by us... We appointed that time and
place....
Think about Firaun... He lives in his castle... He lives in Egypt... But Allah had a
date set for him and a place set for him to... ‘you are not gonna die in your
castle...you are not gonna die in any battlefield... You are going to go for a little
swim... 😁😁😁I will get you to the water... Don’t you worry....’......this is ‫… َم ْهل ْك‬..
‘and the appointment for that is set….’….
Now, we get to the second last story of the surah.… and between was this warning
again…
So, the first sermon of warning was in the beginning….then there was a tiny sermon
in between the story of the people of the cave and the two gardeners… and then we
had a longer sermon in between these two stories… and now we are getting to the
third story… and this is story of Musa alahisalam and khizir…
Ayah 60
َ ‫َوإ ْذ قَا َل ُمو‬
ُ‫سى لفَت َىه‬
And Musa alahisalam said to his young man…
‫ فَت َی‬means ‘young guy’..
ُ‫ – لفَت َىه‬to his intern..
Some muffassirun says, it is Yusha ibn Nun… He wanted to hang out with him and
learn from him and wanted to spend time with Musa alahisalam.. And he is a young
guy too… that’s why it is ‫ …فَت َی‬so, this the second time we are learning about ‫…فَت َی‬
and what we are learning also is you are not gonna to find a more knowledgeable
person at that time, at least to their experience than Musa alahisalam..
So, what should a young man do in between the lines???
Be at the service of a scholar… a teacher..
When we can’t find a messenger, the find the messengers of the messengers… find
the ambassadors of the messengers.. Find a scholar to be in the company of…
So anyhow…
And he is not sitting there doing halaqat with him… he is rolling a boat with
him….so do whatever you can do… massage his feet… do whatever… just be with
a scholar… find his company…
َ ‫َوإ ْذ قَا َل ُمو‬
So, ُ‫سى لفَت َىه‬
When Musa alahisalam said to his young assistant..
‫ََل أَب َْر ُح‬
I am not gonna leave this mission… I am not gonna stop… I am gonna keep going
and going and going… I am committed…
‫َحتَّى أ َ ْبلُ َغ َمجْ َم َع ْٱلبَحْ َريْن‬
Until I reached the merging of the two seas… the two bodies of water where they
come together…
There is this two rivers and they are merging together and maybe there is a rock or
a mountain in between and around them the two of them merge… so the land in
between gets narrower and narrower and narrower, meets at a rock and then they
merged together…

َ ‫أ َ ْو أ َ ْمض‬
‫ى ُحقُبًا‬
Or I will spend eons upon eons… (eons – an indefinite and longer period of time)
‫ ُحقُب‬according to the most conservative estimate is an 80 year period…
‫( لَّـبثينَ في َها أَحْ قَابًا‬78:23) - where they will remain for endless ages...
An 80 years is a average life time... So they say ‫ – أَحْ قَابًا‬life time upon lifetime…
that’s how it figuratively coined…
So, it doesn’t matter if I spend multiple…
And by the way, ‫ أَحْ قَابًا‬is ‫ َج ْم ُع قلَّة‬meaning short number plural (3 to 10)… it is used in
surah Naba..
But in surah Kahf it is ‫ ُحقُبًا‬which is َ ‫ َج ْم ُع َكثْ َرة‬meaning large number plural (11+)…

So, it doesn’t matter, I don’t care if I have to spend numerous life times… I will keep
going until I find that place…
The back story that we learned from Hadith literature is that Allah azzawazal have
told Musa alahisalam - there is someone more knowledgeable than you and you
should learn from him… and you will find him where the two Oceans meet..
So he is so dedicated to learning…
Now, here is the cool thing here…
We have already got a teacher student relationship established between Musa and
ُ‫ …فَت َىه‬but the teacher, a real teacher is someone who says – I need a teacher…
because he doesn’t just say – I am done… Musa alahisalam is in quest of a teacher…
so, it is a really cool..
Ayah 61
‫فَلَ َّما َبلَغَا َمجْ َم َع بَيْنه َما‬
‫ – بَلَ َغ‬they both reached…
‫فَلَ َّما َبلَغَا َمجْ َم َع بَيْنه َما‬
When they both reached, the union between the two bodies of water…
‫نَسيَا ُحوت َ ُه َما‬
Notice the verb usage here…
It is ‫…نَسيَا‬.
‫ي – ُه َو‬
َ ‫نَس‬
‫ ُه َما‬- ‫نَسيَا‬
‫ – نَسيَا ُحوت َ ُه َما‬they both forgot their fish...
Essentially Allah had given them instruction to pack food for the journey and Allah
told them by wahi(revelation) – take a fish with you... And ‫ ُحوت‬is not a small fish…
it is not a gold fish… it is one of those big fish… so, they just plot one in the boat
and they are on their way… and they roasted already, cooked it already, obviously it
is a bad idea to cook a fish on a small boat😁😁😁… so you cook it ahead of time
and you go..
Now they get there…
َ‫فَٱت َّ َخذ‬
So, when they got to the point when the two things meet, may be Musa alahisalam
taking a nap… and he is letting the boy just navigated – ‘let me know, if something
cool happens…’ or whatever… and this kid, you know, young guy, easily distracted
or no???
Ohhh My God… 😁😁😁… I mean imagine, he didn’t even have a iPhone… there
was no video games… he was just sitting around… first he starts singing every song
he knows….. But he got bored after a while… it is a journey, there is no scenery,
nothing… he is just sitting there… and the only buddy with you was sleeping… your
teacher is sleeping…
So, he is just kind of sitting there and in the middle of it all, you know, the line
between fantacy and reality gets blurred…
-am I really awake??? Am I really here??? 😁😁😁
You know, how sheikh Abdul Nasir says – when you are on the 6.35am, you question
your existence… 😁😁😁… it is kind of like that…
You know this is a road trip…. But it is endless… and you are just kind of like sitting
there like – ohhh, this is going 🙄🙄🙄…
‫ – نَس َيا ُحوت َ ُه َما‬they forgot about their fish…
ُ‫سبيلَ ۥه‬
َ َ‫فَٱت َّ َخذ‬
Then it took it’s path….
Now, Allah azzawazal didn’t say – ‫سبي ًْل‬
َ َ‫ – فَات َّ َخذ‬it took a path…
It is ُ‫سبيلَ ۥه‬
َ – as though it was that fish, by wahi (revelation) was pre programmed to
take it’s course… it was designed on a course… it was created on a course… and it
took the course that was supposed to take…

‫فى ْٱلبَحْ ر‬
In the ocean..
‫س َربًا‬
َ
Making waves and making a tunnel..
ْ‫س َرب‬
َ is actually literally a tunnel.. And ْ‫س َرب‬
َ is also the imagery of water…
So, it was making a path of water…
ْ‫س َرب‬
َ in the desert is the imagery ‘may be water is ahead’…
You know, how speed boats when they go really fast, they leave a wave…
So, the fish things, it jumps out and leaves a wave..
And this is also, you know, if you look at it as a map, it looks like an arrow… like
➡️➡️➡️THAT WAY… That’s is where you need to be going…
So, this kid is sitting in the boat and thinking – ohhh… that is cool… and fell into
sleep 😴😴😴…. Didn’t pay attention 😁😁😁… and they keep going…
Ayah 62
‫فَلَ َّما َج َاوزَ ا‬
When they crossed it…
‫ َج َاوزَ ا‬literally means “to cross”…
So, the crossed the point they were supposed to be at… they were supposed to stop
when the two bodies of water meet..
The only thing that happened the moment they hit the right spot is the fish jumped
out… which is a sign that is where you are supposed to stop… but they kept going…
‫… َج َاوزَ ا‬..
And after a while, Musa alahisalam wakes up… and he said – ‘How is it going kid???
- everything is okay.. 😬😬😬
- we are get kind of hungry…
َ ‫قَا َل لفَت َىهُ َءاتنَا‬
‫غدَا َءنَا‬
He said to his assistant – ‘bring us our lunch…’
َ ‫لَقَ ْد لَقينَا من‬
َ َ‫سفَرنَا هَـذَا ن‬
‫صبًا‬
Because of this journey of ours, we have met with some exhaustion…
Actually, some ulama says that they wouldn’t have felt hunger if they stopped where
they were supposed to stop… they wouldn’t have felt the hunger… so, the fact that
they felt the hunger means they went beyond what they should have gone… so, the
hunger itself was a sign that you have gone beyond… that was the alarm itself…
So, now the boys turn to speak…
-okay.. I will get the fish… And he turns around… and the he turns back to his boss
(Musa alahisalam) … And he says -
َ‫قَا َل أ َ َر َءيْت‬
did you see??? 😁😁😁
َّ ‫إ ْذ أ َ َو ْينَا إلَى ٱل‬
‫ص ْخ َرة‬
When we passed by… when we came really right next to the boulder…. Did you
see???
Musa alahisalam, is like – obviously not…. َ‫فَإنى نَسيتُ ْٱلحُوت‬
- No No No… I am sorry… I forgot the fish…something crazy happened… (the
assistant)…
He is not sure if he dreamed that or saw a reality or something …
ُ‫طـ ُن أ َ ْن أ َ ْذ ُك َر ۥه‬ َ ‫َو َما أَن‬
َّ ‫سىنيهُ إ ََّل ٱل‬
َ ‫ش ْي‬
And now he is presenting an excuse also…
-It wasn’t me at all… (No.. No… No….this ‫ َما‬is “ma nafiya means ma of negation”...
- it was nothing made me forget except Shaitan.. Shaitan kept me from
remembering...
And some have drew out from this that only power that shaitan has is to make you
forget... You can also derive from this that young people are very good at making
excuses, when they messed up...
But you know, it is interesting... This is the second time we are mentioning
forgetfulness... Like forgetting the fish...
The first of that is - ‫( نَس َيا ُحوت َ ُه َما‬ayah 61) – they both forgot their fish...
Which means Allah gave responsibility to both of them... The captain and the worker
of the ship, they are both responsible...
The Amir has to pass on the responsibility, but if the subordinate messes up, that is
still considered the mess up of the Amir... That is the position of responsibility...
You take the responsibility for the mistakes of the people under you...
So, the scary thing is the teacher is responsible for the failures of the students... That
is the scary consequence of this... 😁😁😁
َ ‫سبيلَ ۥهُ فى ْٱلبَحْ ر‬
‫ع َجبًا‬ َ َ‫َوٱت َّ َخذ‬
Now he (the assistant) wakes up...and he goes – ohhh... Yeah it took a path into the
ocean.. It was weird...
Obviously a roasted fish coming back into the life and jumping into the water and
making waves is kind of crazy... So, he calls it ‫ع َجبًا‬
َ – it took an strange path...
Ayah 64
‫قَا َل ذَلكَ َما ُكنَّا نَبْغ‬
Musa alahisalam said – that is what we are looking for… that is what we have been
looking for…
ْ َ‫ف‬
‫ٱرتَدَّا‬
Then they turned around...
‫علَى َءاثَاره َما‬
َ
Retracing their footsteps..
‫صا‬ َ َ‫ق‬
ً ‫ص‬
Very very precisely... As closely as they could...
 ‫ص‬َّ َ‫ ق‬in arabic like, you know, mother of Musa told her daughter - ۖ ‫ت ِل ُ ْخته قُصيه‬ ْ َ‫َوقَال‬
َ‫عن ُجنُ ٍۢب َو ُه ْم ََل يَ ْشعُ ُرون‬ ُ َ‫( فَب‬28:11) - And she said to his sister, “Keep track of
ْ ‫ص َر‬
َ ‫ت بهۦ‬
him!” So she watched him from a distance, while they were unaware.
-‘follow him...’ meaning trace steps... Go very closely to him..

Ayah 65
‫ع ْبدًا م ْن ع َبادنَا‬
َ ‫فَ َو َجدَا‬
Then they found ‘a slave’ from one of ‘our slaves’…. Allah azzawazal kept him
anonymous…
Allah didn’t say – ‫ ال َعبْد‬meaning ‘the slave’… It is ‫ع ْبدًا‬
َ which is ‘indefinite’…
People still trying to looking for who was that man???
Is it zul karnain, a really old man who has given thousands of years of age and he
still kind of walks the streets sometimes…???
Is he an angel???? Is he what!!!!
All you need to know is ‫ع ْبدًا م ْن عبَادنَا‬
َ
And if you start asking too many question about Zul kar nain, then let me remind
you - ‫س ُه ْم َك ْلبُ ُه ْم َرجْ ٍۢ ًما ب ْٱلغَيْب‬
ُ ‫ساد‬ َ ‫سيَقُولُونَ ثَلَـثَة َّرابعُ ُه ْم َك ْلبُ ُه ْم َويَقُولُونَ خ َْم‬
َ ‫سة‬ َ – meaning they are
guessing blindly…
-DROP IT…. LET IT GO… JUST TAKE WHAT ALLAH IS GIVING YOU AND
THAT’S IT…
There are pretty interesting opinions about it, even among the sahaba… like Umar
radiallahu anhu thought it was an angel… some people name their kid ‘Khizir’ and
he said – ‘Now we are naming our kid with angel’s name!!!’…. So, he seem to have
the opinion that it is an angel…
Other studies say – he is a very old man… that is actually, there is a certain sufi
poems and literature you will find story like – some guy making qiyamul layl in the
masjid, the he saw a guy that he was already praying there even though everybody
is supposed to have left and he has a conversation with him and at the end of it all
he said – ‘I know, certainly that man is khizir….’😁😁😁
- Ohhh…. I don’t know about that… it was just a homeless guy… 😁😁😁
‫َءات َ ْينَـهُ َرحْ َمةً م ْن عندنَا‬
We had given him a mercy, especially from ourselves…
‫علَّ ْمنَـهُ من لَّدُنَّا ع ْل ًما‬
َ ‫عندنَا َو‬
And we had taught him a knowledge that has come from us…
Now, there is َ‫ ع ْند‬in the first part and ‫ لَد ُْن‬in the second part… ( ‫َءات َ ْينَـهُ َرحْ َمةً م ْن عندنَا‬
‫علَّ ْمنَـهُ من لَّدُنَّا ع ْل ًما‬
َ ‫ …) َو‬you notice that???
So, which one did he give more???
‫ علم‬meaning knowledge…
‫علَّ ْمنَـهُ من لَّدُنَّا ع ْل ًما‬
َ ‫ – َو‬Allah highlights his I’lm, more than he does the mercy on him…
and it is the fact that Allah had given him a mercy from himself is what the
speculations about… what is this mercy??? Is he given him a long age??? What has
he given him??? Only Allah knows that…
Now the roles have changed… you see, the transition is very beautiful… right now,
we had a teacher and a student… but now the teacher is about to become the
student… and before in the previous case we saw that the student forgot certain
instructions… and now the teacher who just told a student – ‘you forgot!!!! That’s
what we are looking for… ’… what is gonna happened to that teacher???... He is
going to forget certain instructions.. So, there is a beautiful transition in the story
that one has to keep mindful of…
Ayah 66
َ‫سى ه َْل أَتَّبعُك‬
َ ‫قَا َل لَ ۥهُ ُمو‬
Musa alahisalam said to him : ‘can I follow you around???’
Who is following him around before???
ُ‫ = فَت َىه‬his assistant
Now, Musa alahisalam asking – ‘can I be your assistant??? Do you have internship
opportunities available with you??... I could be your study assistant… your research
assistant…’
‫علَى أَن تُعَل َمن‬
َ
Based on the idea, the hope that you will teach me…
‫عل ْمتَ ُر ْشدًا‬
ُ ‫م َّما‬
From what have been taught of good things of righteousness…
Notice he humbles himself a lot because he says – ‫ – ت ُ َعل َمن‬it just a short tone of
‘tua’llimani’…. NOT ‘tua’llimanEEEE’… Musa alahisalam didn’t prolong the
dameer (means pronoun) ‫( ني‬attached pronoun of ‫ )أَنَا‬in the sentence…
It is not ‫ت ُ َعل َمني‬
It is just ‫ ( ت ُ َعل َمن‬Musa alahisalam didn’t pronounce the pronoun ‫ ني‬out of his
humbleness towards his teacher)…. It is short…
Ayah 66
‫صب ًْرا‬ َ ‫قَا َل إنَّكَ لَن ت َ ْست َطي َع َمع‬
َ ‫ى‬
He said – No doubt, you are not going to be able to be patient with me… you are
not gonna have patients for me…
It seems like, this teacher knows something about Musa alahisalam that Allah has
already made him aware of.… 😁😁😁
First, َ‫ – إنَّك‬No Doubt about it…..’are you???!!!…. you won’t be patient… you
can’t…’
ْ َ ‫ – لَ ْن ت‬you won’t be patient or you are not gonna be patient
He didn’t even say – ‫صبر‬
…
It is ‫ – لَن ت َ ْست َطي َع‬you will never be able to…
Next, it is ‫صب ًْرا‬
َ ‫ى‬
َ ‫َمع‬
Not ‫ی‬
َ ‫صب ًْرا َمع‬
َ
Here, ‫ی‬
َ ‫ ي – َمع‬+ ‫َم َع‬
‫ َم َع‬is a special mudaf ( Dream Basic text page 8)
‫ ي‬is mudaf ilaihi which is attached pronoun of ‫أَنَا‬
And ‫ى‬
َ ‫ َمع‬placed before ‫صب ًْرا‬
َ which creates a ikhtesas means exclusivity…
‫صب ًْرا‬
َ ‫ى‬
َ ‫ – َمع‬ESPECIALLY, ESPECIALLY WITH Me, you won’t be able to
handle it.. you can’t handle this… it is beyond you…
Ayah 68
َ ‫َو َكي‬
ْ َ ‫ْف ت‬
‫صب ُر‬
How can you be patient???
ْ ‫علَى َما لَ ْم تُح‬
‫ط بهۦ ُخب ًْرا‬ َ
Over something that you haven’t been given full news off…. You can’t encircle it…
you can’t wrap your head around it and you are not gonna be able to be patient…
When you see something that doesn’t make sense, it upsets you… you have a track
record… 😁😁😁
(Ustadh started telling Musa alahisalam story from Surah Qasas (28:23)
ْ ‫علَيْه أ ُ َّمةً منَ ٱلنَّاس يَ ْسقُونَ َو َو َجدَ من دُونه ُم ْٱم َرأَتَيْن تَذُودَان ۖ قَا َل َما خ‬
‫َطبُ ُك َما ۖ قَالَت َا ََل‬ َ َ‫َولَ َّما َو َردَ َما َء َم ْديَنَ َو َجد‬
‫شيْخ َكبير‬ َ ‫عا ُء ۖ َوأَبُونَا‬
َ ‫صد َر ٱلر‬ْ ُ‫ – نَسْقى َحتَّى ي‬When he arrived at the well of Midian, he found
a group of people watering their herds. Apart from them, he noticed two women
holding back their herd. He asked them, “What is the problem?” They replied, “We
cannot water ˹our animals˺ until the other shepherds are done, for our father is a very
old man.” (28:23)
You see a couple of girls standing there and a bunch of people are feeding their sheep
and these girls (‫)تَذُودَان‬, they were wrestling with their sheep..
(Here our Ustadh made a mistake… it is not ‫…تُذَودَان‬. it is ‫…تَذُودَان‬. The mistake is
confirmed by Ustadh Sohaib Sayeed… yes, our Ustadh is a human being and he can
make mistakes… but still he is the best Ustadh in the world and best person in the
world.. The Prophet salallahualahiwasallam said, "The best among you (Muslims)
are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it." Volume 6, Book 61, Number 546:
Narrated Uthman bin Affan: The Prophet said, "The most superior among you
(Muslims) are those who learn the Qur'an and teach it.".... So please carry on.... live
with your life... Thank you)
So back to story again...
So, they are wrestling with their sheep... they were pushing so hard that the girls
drag along with them... then they push back and they drag along... it is a tug of war
between girls and sheep.. and he (Musa alahisalam) looks at that and he goes –
‘That doesn’t make any sense...’
So, when something doesn’t make any sense, and there is more to the story, then the
َ ‫َخ‬
word use is ْ‫طب‬
ْ ‫ = َما خ‬what’s up with you??? What’s going on??? That doesn’t make sense…
‫َطبُ ُك َما‬
What he means by that is why are you girls working??? Don’t you have a brother, a
husband and father??? Somebody else??? And why aren’t you going to the water??
why aren’t they giving you a way??? What is going on???
Ibrahim alaihissalam… Angels came to his house… A bunch of angels came to tell
him he is going to have a son… He says – No… I don’t need that many angels to tell
me that I am going to have a son… why are you really here??? – ‫َطبُ ُك ْم َأيُّهَا‬ْ ‫َقا َل َف َما خ‬
َ‫( ْٱل ُم ْرسَ ُلون‬15:57) (please read Surah Hijr ayah 51 to 57 to learn the whole story of
Ibrahim alaihissalam.. Thank you)
But Musa alahisalam has this tendency to resolve things that he can’t figure out.. He
has got that tendency… so, what the teacher tells him you have a certain tendency
that is not gonna work with this program in particular … the prerequisites are not
going to be met…
Ayah 69
‫صاب ًرا‬
َ ُ‫ٱَّلل‬ َ ‫قَا َل‬
َّ ‫ست َجدُنى إن شَا َء‬
You will find me, in Sha Allah, patient…
Now did we learn in this surah that you should say In Sha Allah???
Yes… So, this is a case study of In Sha Allah… There is a case study of In Sha
Allah… So, everything you say about yourself in the future, you should add In Sha
Allah…
So, you are going to find me patient… (Fine…)
‫َو ََل أَعْصى لَكَ أ َ ْم ًرا‬
( ahhh… where is in Sha Allah here???)
I will not disobey you in any decision…
What are you supposed to be adding to that???
In Sha Allah…
Ahhh… but he didn’t say in Sha Allah… he said in Sha Allah with the First part…
I will be patient in Sha Allah and I am not going to disobey you in any decision…
Ayah 70
‫قَا َل فَإن ٱت َّ َب ْعت َنى‬
Then if you are gonna follow me, here is rule number one in my class…
‫َىء‬ َ ‫فَ َل تَسْـَٔ ْلنى‬
ْ ‫عن ش‬
Don’t ask me about anything…. 😁😁😁😁… it is such an awesome rule…
‫فَ َل تَسْـَٔ ْلنى عَن ش َْىء‬

So, the imagery is - this is ship… and khizir goes down to the basement and tears
off a plank and water starts gushing in… and he goes – Musa come with me… let’s
go downstairs… they goes in there and he just (‫ )خ ََرقَ َها‬tore the plank off and it is
about to sink….
‫قَا َل أَخ ََر ْقت َ َها لت ُ ْغرقَ أ َ ْهلَ َها‬
Musa alahisalam said – did you tear it up????😮😮😮…. So, you can drown it’s
people???
َ َ‫لَقَ ْد جئْت‬
‫شيْـًٔا إ ْم ًرا‬
You have done something that is both unethical and totally illogical because we are
on board… 😁😁😁
‫ إ ْمر‬in Arabic is something unethical and illogical and it captures both…
Ayah 72
‫قَا َل أَلَ ْم أَقُ ْل‬
He (khizir) said – Didn’t I say…

‫صب ًْرا‬ َ ‫إنَّكَ لَن ت َ ْست َطي َع َمع‬

َ ‫ى‬
Weren’t my exact words that you are not capable of patients with me… not with me…
maybe you are patient with other people you can handle but not with me…
Ayah 73
ُ‫قَا َل ََل ت ُ َؤاخ ْذنى ب َما نَسيت‬
Okay…okay…alright…sorry…sorry….sorryy…
Don’t grab me… ‫ – ََل ت ُ َؤاخ ْذنى‬Don’t scold me… don’t punish me as a teacher…
َ‫ – ُم َؤا َخذ‬to hold somebody responsible…

But Musa alahisalam didn’t take the blame over to shaitan because musa alahisalam
is more mature than that… so, he just says – it is me… I forgot…
ُ ‫َو ََل ت ُ ْره ْقنى م ْن أ َ ْمرى‬
‫عس ًْرا‬
َّ ‫ َل ت ُ ْره ْقني فَلَ أ َ ْرهَقَ َك‬- Don’t be harsh on me, don’t impose
In Arabic there is a saying ‫اَّلل‬
a weight on me, don’t crush me with your harshness and Allah won’t crush you one
day… this is a expression…
So, ‫ إ ْره َْق‬is - to force and impose something on someone…
He (Musa alahisalam) said – come onnn… take it easy a little bit… just take it easy…
‫م ْن أ َ ْمرى‬
In my matter…
‫عس ًْرا‬

Don’t force me or don’t put impose on me in my this decision, this thing that I have
done, more difficulty… take it easy on me….
