A – CONTEXT

In this English language revision lesson, I will be teaching grade 10 students at

Luong Ngoc Quyen High School, who are currently at an A2 language proficiency
level. The main objective of this lesson is to reinforce the students' understanding and
usage of the English language by focusing on two essential aspects: the proper use of
"should" and conditional sentences type II in practical exercises.

The aim of the lesson is to equip the students with the necessary knowledge and
skills to confidently apply these grammatical structures in various real-life situations.
By the end of the lesson, the students should be able to demonstrate their ability to form
sentences using "should" to offer advice or make suggestions and to construct
conditional sentences type II to discuss hypothetical situations and their possible
outcomes.

To achieve these objectives, the curriculum will cover a comprehensive range of

language skills, including reading, speaking, listening, writing, and English test-taking.
The lesson will be carefully structured to strike a balance between theory and practical
application.

In the reading segment, students will engage with authentic texts containing
examples of "should" usage and conditional sentences type II. This will help them
understand how these grammatical structures are commonly used in written language
and improve their overall reading comprehension.

In the speaking component, students will participate in interactive discussions

and role-plays where they can practice using "should" in offering advice and expressing
their opinions on various topics. They will also use conditional sentences type II to
speculate about possible outcomes in given scenarios, thereby enhancing their oral
communication skills.

Listening exercises will expose the students to a variety of audio materials, such
as dialogues and short speeches, where they can identify instances of "should" and
conditional sentences type II usage. This will help improve their listening
comprehension and train them to recognize these structures in spoken English.

1
The writing activities will focus on guiding students to compose paragraphs and
short essays using "should" and conditional sentences type II appropriately. Through
these writing exercises, students will learn to express their thoughts coherently and
accurately in writing, thus honing their writing skills.

Additionally, the lesson will include exercises from past English tests to
familiarize the students with the format and types of questions they may encounter in
exams. This approach will help build their confidence and proficiency in taking English
tests, which is crucial for their academic development.

Throughout the lesson, there will be continuous assessment and feedback to

monitor the students' progress and identify areas for improvement. This will enable me,
as the teacher, to adapt my teaching methods and provide personalized support to each
student based on their individual needs.

To ensure an engaging and dynamic learning environment, various teaching

techniques will be employed, such as group activities, pair work, multimedia resources,
and interactive games. These strategies aim to make the learning process enjoyable,
foster teamwork among students, and reinforce their understanding of the topics
covered.

In conclusion, this English language revision lesson for grade 10 students at

Luong Ngoc Quyen High School, who are at an A2 language proficiency level, is
designed to enhance their comprehension and usage of "should" and conditional
sentences type II. The program will encompass diverse language skills, ranging from
reading and speaking to listening, writing, and English test-taking. By the end of the
lesson, students will be equipped with the necessary language tools to confidently
communicate in English, apply grammar accurately, and perform well in English
assessments.

B - PLATFORM DESCRIPTION
The online course described herein aims to enhance students' language
proficiency in English, specifically focusing on the usage of "should" and conditional
sentences type II. The course is designed to engage learners through a variety of
learning and teaching methods, encompassing reading, speaking, listening, writing, and

2
interactive English tests. By leveraging technology, the course fosters a dynamic and
immersive learning experience that accommodates different learning styles and
maximizes student engagement.

1. Course Design:
1.1. Curriculum and Learning Objectives:
The course is structured to be comprehensive and progressive, covering both
grammar and practical language skills. The primary aim is to equip students with the
ability to use "should" and conditional sentences type II accurately and confidently in
various contexts. To achieve this, the course breaks down the learning objectives into
smaller, manageable chunks to facilitate gradual learning and application.

1.2. Teaching Methods:

a. Interactive Lectures: The course begins with interactive video lectures where
the instructor explains the grammar concepts and provides real-life examples to
contextualize the usage of "should" and conditional sentences type II. The lectures also
incorporate quizzes to encourage active participation and self-assessment.

b. Group Discussions: To enhance speaking and listening skills, the course

includes online group discussions using video conferencing tools. Students are divided
into small groups to engage in meaningful conversations and practice using the target
language in a supportive environment.

c. Reading Activities: Various reading materials, such as articles, short stories,

and dialogues, are integrated into the course. Students read these materials to improve
their reading comprehension skills while identifying instances of "should" and
conditional sentences type II in context.

d. Writing Exercises: Writing prompts are given to encourage students to apply

the target language in written form. They write paragraphs, essays, and responses,
allowing them to practice and receive constructive feedback on their writing skills.

e. Listening Comprehension: The course includes audio clips or videos with

dialogues and scenarios where "should" and conditional sentences type II are used.

3
Students listen and answer questions related to the content, honing their listening skills
and reinforcing the grammar concepts.

f. English Tests: Regular English tests are conducted to assess students'

understanding and progress. These tests incorporate a mix of multiple-choice questions,
fill-in-the-blanks, and short-answer questions, keeping the evaluation process varied
and engaging.

3. Integration of Technology:
3.1. Learning Management System (LMS):
To deliver the course content efficiently, a user-friendly Learning Management
System (LMS) is employed. The LMS acts as the central hub where students access
course materials, submit assignments, participate in discussions, and take assessments.
It provides a structured learning environment, ensuring seamless navigation through
different modules and units.

3.2. Video Conferencing Tools:

Video conferencing tools, such as Zoom or Microsoft Teams, are utilized for live
group discussions and speaking practice. These tools facilitate real-time interaction
between students and instructors, simulating a classroom environment and fostering
communication skills.

3.3. Interactive Quizzing Software:

The integration of interactive quizzing software enables instructors to create
engaging and interactive quizzes. This gamified approach motivates students to actively
participate in self-assessment, receive immediate feedback, and track their progress
throughout the course.
3.4. Multimedia Content:
The course incorporates multimedia elements, such as audio clips, videos, and
interactive graphics, to enhance the learning experience. These elements cater to visual
and auditory learners, making the course content more engaging and memorable.

4. Reflection:
The design and integration of technology in the online course have proven to be
highly effective. Students appreciate the flexibility of accessing course materials at their
own pace and participating in live discussions regardless of their physical location. The
4
diverse teaching methods cater to different learning styles, ensuring that each student
can grasp the grammar concepts effectively.

The utilization of video conferencing tools for group discussions has facilitated
meaningful interactions among students, promoting a sense of community and
teamwork. Furthermore, the interactive quizzing software has been a valuable tool for
providing instant feedback and identifying areas where students may need additional
support.

One challenge faced during the course's implementation was ensuring equitable
access to technology and reliable internet connections for all students. Efforts were
made to accommodate learners with limited resources, such as providing downloadable
materials and offering alternative communication channels.
