Department of shalya Tantra is one of the most important branches in GAMC Bangalore.

This branch
deals with various surgical and parasurgical procedures. Surgical procedures in various anorectal
disorders like Arshas, Bhagandara and Parikartika. And also many other diseases are treated with
special techniques of parasurgical procedures like Ksharakarma, Ksharasutra, Agnikarma and
Rakthamokshana. Among the types of Rakthamokshana siravyadha, jaloukavacharana and
pracchanna are practiced extensively in many of the challenging cases like non healing ulcers
especially venous ulcers and diabetic ulcers. This department has its own OPD, IPD, Major and Minor
operation theatre with well equipped instruments, vranagara, ksharasutra unit, Rakthamokshana
unit, Agnikarma unit, and casualty. Here many undergraduates and post graduates are trained.
Department of PG studies in Shalya Tantra was started in 1977. Since then more than 300 PG
scholars are trained here. Institution is periodically conducting various seminars, lecture series,
workshops for academic benefit of students community.
