SEMI DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN LEGAL ASPECTS IN TOURISM AND


HOSPITALITY INDUSTRY

I. Objectives

At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to

A. Understand and comprehend the basic background of hospitality law and tourism law.
B. Identify the kinds of laws relevant to the tourism, travel, and hospitality industry.
C. Explain the concept of tourism law.
D. Enumerate important sources of tourism law.
E. Provide examples of applications of tourism law.

IV. Procedure

A. Preparation
● Let the students stand up for the prayer
● Greet the students and ask them to focus and listen carefully to the discussions.

B. Motivation
● Let the students imagine if they are given a chance to become one of the law-makers
in the country, what specific law are they going to make and pass.

C. Lesson Proper
● Tourism Law may be defined as a body of rules or principles of action which deals
with the regulation, authority, relations and obedience among members of a society
involved in tourist, travel and accommodation. It includes people travelling from place
to place for pleasure (tourist), and business establishments or people engaged in the
occupation of providing various services for tourists.
This lesson will tackle the different laws that is pertinent on hospitality and tourism
industry. This will enable the learners to understand and comprehend the basic
concept of law, its applications and its effect to the industry they belong to.
Goals and/or Expectations are the expected learning outcomes at the end of the
semester.
D. Activity
● Divide the class into two groups and give them a common situational scenario that the
tourism and hospitality establishments encounter. The first group will be the defendant
and the other group will be the plaintiff. Give the students time to discuss the given
situation with their groupmates. Let the students apply the possible law that pertains
to the problem, and exercise their reasoning skills by letting them debate on the given
case and the teacher will stand as a moderator in resolving the dispute.

E. Generalization
● The importance of tourism law cannot be overstated. It is essential for protecting the
rights and interests of both tourists and businesses in the industry. Tourism law helps
to ensure that travelers are safe, secure, and have access to quality services while on
vacation or business trips. Additionally, it provides a framework for resolving disputes
between parties involved in tourism-related activities such as hotels, airlines, tour
operators etc., ensuring fair practices across the board. Furthermore, it can help
protect against fraud or other unethical behavior by providing clear guidelines on what
is acceptable conduct within the industry.
Ultimately, having strong laws governing tourism will create an environment where
everyone benefits from their travels – whether they’re visiting a new country or simply
taking a weekend getaway. Though this, it would definitely help to boost the country’s
economy and for the benefit and welfare of the Filipino people in general.

F. Evaluation
● Get ½ crosswise of yellow paper and answer the following questions:
1. What is law in general?
2. What are the two general division of law.
3-7. Give the five subjects of law.
8-17. What are the 10 kinds of law.
18-20. Give the sources of law.

V. Assignment
On a short bond paper, state the Importance and Application of Tourism Law.
