After graduating from high school, people have multiple choices such as going straight to

university, working,.. Besides, some people just spend a short time traveling or working before
attending college. Hence, there are many pros and cons to choose that way.
On the one hand, the choice to take time off brings a lot of merits.Firstly, people who take a gap
year can gain real-life experience from their works because of the fact that when they approach
many kind of jobs, meet other people, they can learn from the senior or have chances to carry
out day-to-day tasks, which helps to realize their own capacity, strengthen their strong points
and better their weaknesses. Secondly, the choice will help to focus on studying without
expressing concern about or thinking about the tuition fee. In detail, if students have financial
difficulties, they will be distracted to balance work and study. As a result, it’s easy for those who
want to accumulate a salary to afford tuition fees and helps to have more concentration in study.
In contrast, despite those merits, there’s still many demerits. More specifically, taking a break
will make people feel that they’re falling behind others. Because when working outside, which
means less chances for approaching study stuff will make people lose momentum. As a result,
they can lose heart and easily give up. Furthermore, young people are more subject to
fraudulent businesses. In fact, they desire to earn a handsome salary in spite of their
inexperience, which results in many negative consequences. They can lose money, get involved
in illegal activities and be sentenced to prison as well.
Although It is not only an advantage but also a disadvantage when choosing to take a short
break before pursuing tertiary education. People should consider which ways bring more
benefits, preventing many negative causes.
